PS3 Preparing a PS3 for sale/reverting to factory state

Heya,
I have a phat PS3 on Rebug 4.86, I originally bought it (from what I assume, was a modder) on OFW 3.55 and it reports a minVersion of 3.20.

I haven't used it since maybe 2019 and want to sell it now. My naive plan was to uninstall my own content, install OFW 3.55 and factory-reset in recovery mode, check if the console is banned by signing up to PSN on the now OFW console, then selling it with that info listed.
Where I live, you can legally tell people that a console was modded before (and not doing that is a dick-move), but you can't sell them in a modded state (since that could be modding-as-a-service)
I've seen tutorials on downgrading via the QA-flag, but wasn't sure on the "dehashing"-step after, as well as disabling QA in OFW.

From what I can tell, moddable 3.55 units still go for around 150 bucks here.
My question now is:
Are FW versions still relevant today?
Does a factory reset from recovery do a complete quick-format of the drive?
Are there any other things to look out for, to reach as close to a clean OFW state as possible?
What steps should I take to get there?

I'm not new to console-softmodding in general, but haven't touched a PS3 in years. So consider me a tech-literate noob.
Thanks a bunch.

I've read that CoreOS-patches remain in flash after a wipe. Can I check and clear them in Rebug Toolbox? I don't think I have spoofed my firmware-version, but would like to check that as well.

it's not so difficult anymore. if a ps3 can have cfw, you can actually update to the latest ofw, then use bguerville toolbox to install cfw. if you can't sell it modded, it might be okay to install 3.55 ofw for ease of use, but like I wouldn't pay more than maybe five more dollars at most for it in that state, when I can just install cfw from the latest. plus, if you'd like to check if it's banned, there's that as well, with being on the latest. I'd sell it soon too, because if there's going to be a 4.92, it will be released soon most likely. then, people will have to play the waiting game on the latest. the bluray keys have to be updated annually most of the time, and 4.91 is almost a year old iirc.

Cool, so I could update to a more recent version. But I still need to know how to scrub the CFW properly.
