When I try to boot the exe (either normally or with admin privileges) I get this error:

Any additional info about OS?

Did you download this app from here:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/freedvdboot.30220/#post-251808.

Does v0.2 is giving you the same problem?

Do you have .NET Framework 4 or later (4.5?) installed?

I remember that I have try v0.2 and v0.3 on Win 7 x64 and everything was fine.
App will at least boot:

From where you are launching this app (desktop, C: )?
Try e.g. "C:\FDVDB\FDVDB_Patcher.exe".

Yes I downloaded it from that link.

Anyway after some more tries it opened up without any error (and always opened correctly from there onward).
My PC is old, probably some slowdown on accessing something was causing the problem...

I patched a SH2 iso (gratest hits USA version, modded with italian corrected translation from SH2 EE), tried it on a un-modded 75004 (pulling out memory cards) and it worked perfectly.

Only thing, I had to set the Ps2 to english language (otherwise it's BSOD). Since I was thinking to give the SH2 patched ISO to a friend, I'd like to make it 100% plug & play (so that he just have to burn the iso and play), is it possible to modify the patcher in a way that ISOs will work with Ps2 set to italian?

No, it's not possible and it had to do nothing with patcher. PS2 needs to be set in English because of FreeDVDBoot exploit, and there's no "fix" for that.

I know it, I was talking about changing some data on FreeDVDBoot code (then it can be applied to the patcher).

So you mean that there's no way to trigger the dvd player software bug in a language different than english? Or simply it hasn't been done yet?

The version for 2.10 dvd player i.e. seems to work with every languages:

"2.10 (tested on U and J regions on real hardware, any language works)"

font: https://github.com/CTurt/FreeDVDBoot

Considering the alternatives (installing FMCB, Fortuna) it isn't that essential to have 3.10/11 FDVDB to work with all languages.
But if possible it'd be a good plus nonetheless (for people that just want to play a game without going through any modding process).

In my current case it isn't a problem, I'll tell my friend to temporarily set his Ps2 to english (Silent Hill 2 automatically set the BIOS language, but it allow you to change it in the menu).

i may be wrong but i think the 2.10 version uses a second bug so it may be any language because of that.

i found this on github:

"2.10 (tested on U and J regions on real hardware, any language works) - UPDATE: my testers have just informed me that this ISO is only working when an HDD is inserted, I will port it to work without a HDD soon."

So any language works but need a hdd untill update.

It can be. Btw i don't see why FDVDB for 3.10/11 couldn't work (with the necessary changes) on other languages too. Unless the dvd player bug is strictly related to the position on some specific english strings, then it'd be impossible to mod it for working with other languages (that are on different positions). I don't know.

Yes, this is the same phrase I quoted on my previous post (only the first part).
I have also a 39004. I'll make a test when it comes out a 2.13E version.

I've another question about DVD-9 games (GT4 in particular). I can normally patch the iso with FDVD-ESR Patcher Gui 0.3, then burn it to a dual layer DVD, or I need some extra steps?

Another question, a little O.T.

What about possible bugs on CD player firmware, there will ever be a FreeCDBoot??

It'd be mainly for Ps1 games but also Ps2 CD games won't need a waste of DVDs anymore.

Probably it is exploitable but no one ever did it. However, this cannot be done in the same way as DVD-Video. Drivers are ready for... well, almost 20 years. :D I have in mind UMCDR and CD-X.

Forget about PSX games in such way, maybe it is possible to make POPStarter and POPS works from disc or maybe PS2PSXe if ever source code would be released but for sure never in native way because IOP turned into virtualized PSX CPU (if my memory doesn't failed me ;p).
