PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

  1. Download zip file from ps3mfw-builder-0.2.1-mod github
  2. Run the .bat file, it will prompt you, enter 491 and it will ask again but a different format, do it again, it will error but ignore it.

There are two sets of keys. The error is due to the keys.txt being in the data folder. You can put it in the ps3keys folder, and it won't error. I suspect it was left in the wrong folder by mistake when it was pushed to GitHub. Anyway, it's a txt file while I think the keys it uses are in binary files through a hex editor. I don't think it matters either way, but it will update both if you do.

Sorry for double post, but @ajthenoob , you forgot to do 4.xx cex tarbells. You have it set to decr, so it probably won't install on the system.

Exactly.
That's what I suspected. Capacitors unable to do their job properly at 700MHz core, in particularly demanding games/scenes.
This is just too much for them to handle I suppose.
650MHz core seems to works.
I need to do more testing to be sure.
Thanks for your report ! :D
Only thing you can do is find another slim with a date of November or December 2010 2501A or 2501B. That is if you're in America.

I live in France. But yeah, if one day I find a 25XX, why not !
Honestly, I'm already more than satisfied with what this good old 2004 "Nec Tokins cursed" Slim can do.
Compared to stock clocks performances, even 650/900 is a huge improvement :')

@Tanzu15 Looks like I can get 1000 mem at least stable enough for an hour of Revengence. I kinda want to push 950 core now.
You're playing with a brick bro. Don't get greedy. You're PS3 is super fast already. Do not fall into that trap. If you Brick your PS3, you're gonna be pissed for months.

@RIP-Felix i sent you my lv1 dump check your dm.

So i tested my Slim Cech-2004B Date Code 9D. 650/900 was stable. After i installed 650/950 it was freezing in XMB instand. Now i tryed installing Stock Cex CFW but the Console is freezing in Recovery Menu after i clicked on System Update.

So i guess now i have reached the point where i have to install my E3 to get it back working. Glad i dumped everything befor i did this.

Help how to recover this is still good for me because i never recovered a OC Nor Ps3. Only normal bricked Systems.
@Mitsu™ Hello , so i used my E3 Flasher to flash the OFW Nor dump on it. Flash was good in my eyes. Now i have the Problem that the Console is giving me a YLOD. I am gonna get syscon error codes tommorow and i will come back with more Infos about it.

I also try to flash the CFW Nor dump on it to see if this will work and not end in a YLOD again. I really hope i can get this System back up running so i can learn something more.

I dont know what Person i have to ask about my Situation tbh so any Help is good for me

You're gonna hate me... However, I'm getting slight artifacting in Battlefield 4, but I wasn't when using 900/1000. Strange. I might back off the VRAM first and see what happens. But first I'll keep it on this one and wait for a crash. It's not noticable and only happens for distance textures (flickers out for a few ms every 10-20sec)

Congrats, my friend. I'm surprised someone took the chance. Do you have a flasher?

Nope. But this was $40 off of Facebook marketplace so it already paid for itself by being first :) . I wonder, though, if there's some hardware method to increase voltage to the GPU. Old NVIDIA cards on the PC side had this kind of hack with the voltage regulators. Maybe some time in the future when the experts like Felix say if it's possible, haha.

did you open up the console to check the GPU model number? Hoping my 2501a can reach similar numbers.

so since ive started seeing people push close to 100% higher clock speeds has anyone noticed any patters where you start getting diminished returns ? like does a 50% clock increase equals to about 50% more performance ? and is there a point in which theres little to no performance gains by pushing clocks higher ?

Damn you paid 40 dollars for that golden sample of a PS3? That's fantastic. 950 though will never be stable for any PS3. 900 is the Max stable any PS3 with silicon lottery will ever get. I can easily load up 950 too. But it will artifact like crazy I'm sure. I'm solid at 900. So 900/950 is great. Though man how I wish we can add more voltage to it. So we can get stability with stuff like 900 or 950.

Geez, that's a steal. I sold my 2501 w/ 1tb hdd for $120.

You can replace capacitors) to be able to get EVEN MOOORE

Have anyone tried OC a Japanese model ?! They don't have manufactured date on the back like others, maybe there's a chance that they actually the best ?!
