PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

Could somebody create an Evilnat 4.89 image with a 600MHz core but only 700MHz memory clock?

Gran Turismo HD crashes on me and in Black Ops II i have issues with some textures artifacting and glitching around

Can you confirm that it works well without oc? We got some reports that some games has bugs and for some, the same games without any issues.

What we really need is a way to implement it via xai plugin, so we can enable/disable it at will. We suggested it to Nat, but he is very busy with real life stuff.

Please do God Of War 3!

See the main page or search on YouTube, @Mello_1993 did a nice video about it , comparing a lot of games including GOW.

This OC is night and day better. My slim runs cool as hell still. FPS is 6 to 10 on all my games. In some games the gains are higher, but this right here is a miracle. It finally stabilized many many games.

Hey anyone know why, when I disable and delete syscalls to play online, the overclock information disappears? Does that mean it gets disabled or it's just a thing with the FPS counter when disabling Sys calls?

do not use SSD on a ps3, it does not support TRIM. you'll have it corrupted in a matter of weeks
Eh? Mine's still okay with SSD though, installed on both slim and super-slim model with 128GB Sandisk and 480 Apacer respectively.

However, one should need to concern is some reputable manufacturers deliberately downgrade their SSD quality into misleading customers like what Adata did with SU 630 SSD.

What are you smoking?
the truth. ssd was not even a thing when ps3 came out and support was never added. beyond that, the interface between the drive and the rest of the system is too slow to take full advantage of the speed improvement.

sure, many people report success using ssd...but how many of them run into problems later on and simply do not come back here to report the problems?

I've been using an ssd for years. 1tb Samsung ssd, and it's been the best thing I've ever done for the PS3. HDDs caused hang ups and hard crashes. No my HDDs were not faulty I tried 5 of them brand new. And they all had that same issue. Ssd is still way faster and more responsive than the garbage hard drives. And I've seen no one report any issue. And of course we all know the PS3 doesn't take full advantage of SSD potential, but that doesn't matter, it's still way faster than hard drives, silent and run cooler. Plus 1tb ssds are large for PS3s, you'll have plenty space for a long time.

ive seen no one report any issue
i have seen users report problems and later confirm that swapping back to hdd fixed their problems. they can be deceiving because they may work for months and one day force a format or constant file system checks due to built up errors.

of course, some drives may have built-in trim or other features that increase compatability, but overall i always recommend using a hdd if possible (and use the sdd in something that better suited).

that could easily just be a faulty ssd. Nothing more nothing less. Hdd are trash, and make PS3 a living hell.

I've swapped in SSDs to a number of my old consoles, original Xbox, 360, PS2, 3DO (yes a 3DO) and an iMac G3. All having been working fine since, I don't think the PS3 will be any different.

Are not faulty, ive seen people reporting problems with SSDs that was new (never used before), is just some of them have problems when using them in PS3 and the sad true is we dont know why those SSDs are problematic

The only thing we can do is to trust the successful reports from the people who mentioned the exact brand/model of the SSD. If you tell me you are using a samsung GF5ee5Gw and works great then i believe you, but if soeone asks me about using a (random brand/model) SSD i would say to be careful because there are high probabilities that could cause problems when used in PS3

Btw, this is one of the cases when we dont need a expensive product, because we know the PS3 is not able to saturate the SSD speed, actually, if there is some SSD manufacturer that is builduing SSDs for cheap labeled as "for enbedded systems", or "industrial usage", or "low power", etc... thats the kind of thing that should work because the manufacturer is not aiming to squeeze the max performance

Tested on my B01, 600/750 version. I am delidded and repasted, 19 blade fan, 226 PSU. There has been only a slight increase in temperature, nothing that dynamic fan control cannot handle. Definite bump in FPS. Tested Jak 2 and Red Faction Guerilla. Unfortunately TLOU is 30 locked, no gains there.

Has anybody tried to push clocks to 625/650/700 on the core?
I wish someone would answer this. Imagine we can get 700 on the core. That would do wonders.

Hi All, I've performed a benchmark using Bioshock Infinite with the framerate unlocked measuring both framerate and power consumption between stock vs OC clocks, i've attached my testing methodology below:

Testing specs:

Ambient Temp: 22c
PS3 Model: CECH-2503A (Slim)
Storage: 500GB 7200RPM HDD
Resolution Set on PS3: 1080p
Game Render Resolution: 720p
Fan speed: 35%
Framerate is unlocked via menus (can hit over 100FPS if looking into the sky)

Conclusion: The increase in temperatures and power consumption is negligible (less than 5%, around +2c & 3W) compared to the substantial performance uplift of 15%-20% across the board. No visual artifacts were found.
Hell yeah!
