I've been using for about a week now. Tried a few games with CECH-L01 600/750mhz,framerate feels pretty much the same,RE5 sometimes gets choppy in the public assembly mercenaries, 2 players online(not internet lag),MGS4 still has noticeable dips in even the first chapter, arkham city and origins, instantly noticed a bit of lag when flying down to enemies.
It's a very small increase, but even if it is only 2FPS it's fine because I haven't noticed it heating up anymore at all, but if the voltage is the same, then such a small increase should barely even generate extra heat.

If you use google to search for MD5 you might find a site that looks to have the PUP

i searched for long time and only links i could find on this 31 pages of thread are either dead mega link or zippyshare witch has been shutdown and i cant find the pup neither on reddit or google it annoys me i really wanted to try. I saw a dev using something called PS3 MFM builder but i dont know how to use it.

I think the best way to enjoy this OCd is using a SSD. No bottlenecks with bad and old hdds. SSD by itself is a progress for the system. No need a superexpensive model.

hello guys i am actually planning to upgrade to an ssd but the thing is i have on my ps3 on a 7200rpm hdd it goes good, but i do not know which version of SATA the ps3 has and also which difference will be in there due to that i want to upgrade to a mx500 crucial ssd, still i am wondering if its worth the upgrade, i will really appreciate if someone can assist me to pick the best option to me

Ps3 has sata 1, so ssd are useless compared to 7200 rpm hdd. Also an ssd will die fast because the os will treat the ssd as an hdd (ps3 os doesnt have care of ssd as windows or linux does). It is better to clean the console and change the thermal paste with a good one, like artic silver (not artic mx4)

This is not a fact. Many of us have been running our ps3 with SSDs for many years without any problems. Ofcourse some old SSDs could suffer. To say that they are useless is just not True.

Can someone confirm this?

some SSD will cause problems. some of the problems only occur after many months of use. it depends on how the drive is used.

the fact that they can work for a good while before giving problems adds to the confusion about their use.

It's funny because I actually bought an SSHD thinking the same thing about how the PS3 doesn't "respect" how an SSD works. You're also asking for too much imo with how early the sata version is.

The best u can do is buy a fast external hdd, and play iso from there while gamedata is stored in the internal hdd.

I tried ssd myself, and even with psn version of games (gt6 for example - psn games dont need gamedata to be installed) I didnt have performance improvements.

The only way to improve the ps3 is by cfw overclock that need new thermal paste (please be aware of what u are doing as some user destroyed their console triyng to remove ihs).

Sshd are different as the ssd is not managed by the system os but by the sshd itself, anyway it is not an improvement over hhd 7200 rpm.

If u want, the improvements are that ssd are silent and lighter

thanks a lot guys i really appreciate your information, so in a few words i will keep my current hdd, it has actually 5 years of use, but yep, i do have actually a toshiba basics external 2tb hdd due to that i do store in there my current games for my cfw slim ps3, and yep i actually i changed thermal paste to a mx-4 and also with OC version of evilnat on 4.90 it gave me temperatures of 66C on cpu and 64C on rsx at 40% fan speed, but yep then i will keep the hdd that i have right now then

if you're getting an ssd and really worried about it dying, invest a little extra in an 870 Evo, 500GB has an endurance of 300TBW and 1TB 600TBW, no way it's dying anytime soon.
