Same here, seeing @xxjoeyxx hit 750mhz on the core make me curios to try to oc a bit more.To be honest, i'm itching to test highter clocks too :P

Yes ,I play 750/1000 for a long time on my 2504B and its stable aslong you have 60degree,and i test the clocks on another 2504B with the same result. And in best case you deleed the heatsink on the RSX and optimise the Thermalgrease for the Vram because you dont see wat Temps the Memory on the RSX reach. This is also the point where you can damage your VRam over a long period of time!.
In another case I had the opportunity to test the firmware on a Frankenstein PS3 with a CXD5301DGB RSX, this console gets bricked.
At the moment I can only assume why this happened, I think it's the memory clock, as the memory can be different for the different 40nm RSX models.
but i work on it to test some 40 nm RSX to get a list wich 40nm RSX make what clocks.
I second this.
Yes please per PM. I have a 2104B currently.I clocked my console higher bit by bit with forced high temperatures under load to see when errors first occur. first the GPU then the memory. I still have a pre-programmed patch tool and can provide some firmwares if someone wants to test it for himself
. I'm interested in your results and which PS3 model and which GPU you have.its all evilnat 4.90 pex
the heat connection from the memory to the heatspreader is different there is a bigger gap .and might the heatpast not cover up the hole surface of the memory Chip.but its one of my next missions to look closer to that and deleed my RSX an try some expensive pads or fresh paste.Yes please per PM. I have a 2104B currently.
Also the memory should be cooled by the main RSX heatsink. Since the GPU and the memory are connected to the main heatspreader
Would it be possible to get access to your automated tool?the heat connection from the memory to the heatspreader is different there is a bigger gap .and might the heatpast not cover up the hole surface of the memory Chip.but its one of my next missions to look closer to that and deleed my RSX an try some expensive pads or fresh paste.
i like also try to capture it on a PC and try to visualize the difference in a video, but i dont have any capture device at the moment
and its a bit rar to find the scenario were the OC shows its full potential, the CPU is a main bottleneck in lots of cases.
would you mind send me a patch for PS3UPDATE.PUP to rise the core to 650mhz?
To be honest, i'm itching to test highter clocks too :P
since there are now more and more users interested in higher clocks, I should write a script for mfwbuilder.I second this.
Maybe 800 / 1100 as a limit? That's like what 40nm should be capable of at maximum.
I just hope nobody blows up their RSX VRM
I meant as a maximum setting in whatever scripts he wants to provide. Of course each console has to be tested in steps. It's better to increase little by little, starting from 650/800

which clocks do you want to try in general, maybe with some limit?
I'm a huge PC overclocker and be 100% sure, that it would be better to increment Core/Mem one by one, so make a config for 625 core and leave mem on 750. Make config with 600 core and 775 mem and so on. If you need help making the script I'd be happy toIt's better to increase little by little, starting from 650/800

You can only do 50 MHz steps. I think Haxxxen has recognized that you need all variants to explore the maximum clock speedsHello! I'd love to test some higher clocks as well. I have a 25XX Slim with CFW from Evilnat.

Only 50 MHz steps? Damn. Those are big stepsYou can only do 50 MHz steps. I think Haxxxen has recognized that you need all variants to explore the maximum clock speeds
I couldn't count on both hands how many times I got a stable 1232 and not a 1235 for example. Too bad
Yes, that's a little tricky i know what you mean , that's why I let the console run hot to see instability as early as possibleOnly 50 MHz steps? Damn. Those are big stepsI couldn't count on both hands how many times I got a stable 1232 and not a 1235 for example. Too bad

If you're not playing with voltages, the only thing that can happen is a crash. I'm also sure the PS has some internal current protection/limit so there shouldn't be a problem.Yes, that's a little tricky i know what you mean , that's why I let the console run hot to see instability as early as possible
It's maby inevitable that someone will brick their console![]()
Brick can still happen if the RSX crashes instantly so you cant reflash the firmware anymore. (If you go too high)If you're not playing with voltages, the only thing that can happen is a crash. I'm also sure the PS has some internal current protection/limit so there shouldn't be a problem.![]()
You could only do 1200/1200 in that case. You have to be a little conservative on the PlayStation with the clocksOnly 50 MHz steps? Damn. Those are big stepsI couldn't count on both hands how many times I got a stable 1232 and not a 1235 for example. Too bad
