PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

It's 0:35 here so it's time for bed. Hopefully tomorrow we can get a 700/950 file and I can test all the games I currently have saved on my PC (it's actually more than 100 games but I can test maybe 50 ;))

Good night bro, thanks for your tests, i'll keep posting my results here today,

GOW Ascention

Here, the memory is playing a major role rather than the core

Core 750/1000 Memory

Max 56, MIN 52 (Higher than 800/750)

Well the MFW builder refuses to run on my system correctly. I always get "process exited abnormally" otherwise i would try to run it.
The previous method was far easier as i just had .jp files and a batch file.

Who did you say we have to "poke" for this? :D

I have tested most games on my PS3 currently on 750 core/1000 memory. None of the games have crashed on me yet.
The testing now has been longer and the findings are different ofc.

Artifacting but not crashing:

Crysis
AC Black Flag
Bioshock Infinite

Random artifact here and there (less than 1 small triangle per second):

Life Is Strange
Red Dead Redemption
Bioshock Infinite
Life Is Strange
Red Dead Redemption
GTA V

Working perfectly:
COJ: Gunslinger
DiRT
DiRT 2
GRiD 2
GTA IV
GT5
GT6

I believe the problem is still in the core being a bit too high, and currently I'm unable to test 700/1000 because we don't have the file.
I'm hitting about the same issues as @Mitsu™.

If anyone has a specific game they'd like me to test I can probably get it somewhere (arrrr mateys) :D

Until then, I will probably wait with furter tests because most games give the same results, so I need a 700/950 and 700/1000 OC file for testing a "safe & stable" OC for all of you <3

Edit: I'm currently uploading videos to demonstrate how artifacting looks

Here are some videos on what artifacting looks like:

Crysis is by far the worst and the only game that looks this bad
I have left it on for about 2hrs tho and still no crash

AC:Black Flag is a lot better but still artifacts

BioShock Infinite only has somewhat noticeable artifacting and most games tested still have it, but way less

Sure, I'll do that (edit : Done !). Btw, I was testing MGS4 and at 700/750, this game still have huge frame drops (down to 18~20 fps sometimes). CPU limited game I guess.
Maybe a bit better than 600/750, I must compare.

Otherwise, I tried 750/800 and had crashes in MGS4 and Drakengard 3. I guess "750" is too much for my model.
I'll test other memory values.
Can @cha0shacker add some more 700/XXX variants to the folder please ? (700/800, 700/850, etc...) :nevreness:

Here's a (low quality, sorry :( ) video of MGS4 running at 600/750 vs 700/750.
It seems to perform a bit better than I thought.

And this a video of the crashes I got at 750/800 :

I'll try to test Sonic Unleashed and Dark Souls tonight if I can.

This project is pretty exciting ! Thanks everyone :D

Any ideal @haxxxen ?

Lets see if we find any correlation between the rsx versions and the overclocks

Well you definitely have the newest RSX. No one else uses a Slim CECH-250X so far

Yep, mine is the newest model among us, which is why it's able to handle more than the others.

I'm curious to see how the 28nm ones in the SuperSlim consoles would fare, especially since they utilize GDDR5 instead of GDDR3.

@M4j0r, @zecoxao, we've discovered that running at 700 cores is optimal for all these systems, and 1000MHz for memory seems perfect as well. Do you think we can push the memory further?

I would guess something around 850-900 core on the CECH-430X models and 2200 mem.

If we ever manage to break their encryption that will be a fun exercise.

My Slim is a CECH2504A :D
@LuanTeles
Can you add that to your OG post?
Mine is a CECH-2104B

BTW @cha0shacker, your lv1 dump is full of 'WARNING: OUT OF MEMORY.' That's strange; all of our dumps don't have any warnings, only yours with a lot of it.
Given that im experimenting with a Beta of the current 4.91.2 it's not that surprising i think and I didn't have any crashes so far ^^

Is there any context to these warnings?
Can you send me the complete log per DM?

Small correction here. I never tested higher than 750MHz memory because i didn't want to risk a brick after being unstable on a 750MHz core.
