PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

We are learning. That's how researches works.
So of course, maybe something we thought was true 30 pages ago may have been contradicted by our new discoveries.

I myself have done a lot of research on overclocking, I've dug into the subject and I have learned a lot.
Thought I knew a lot, but obviously not enough.
That's why you have to be humble.

No need to change the voltage to generate more heat and degrade your hardware.
The GPU works more, consumes more.
More power = more heat.
It is a basic and universal rule.
There is also the phenomenon of electromigration, which overclock exacerbates.
In short, you just can't say overclock is safe. And knowing that, you have to evaluate how much risk-taking is worth it.

When overclocking a GPU, there is ALWAYS a point of diminishing returns. On the other hand, in parallel, the power consumption continues crescendo and the harmful effects with.
Mitsu iam admiring your work here Very much and on YouTube thanks for all the information!:cheerful:

thanks :) also whats the voltage mod?
Iam not the top expert but i heard that its supposedly to give a little more electricity to the console so we can make the higher oc like 800 or 850 stable no artifacts no glitches no nothing i don't know by how much or how but i wish someone could do it with a pup file

oh sounds cool

Doesn't anyone know how can i send a screenshot in any message on this thread i can't seem to find the right button only url link i can't select any photo's from my gallery?

might be a stupid question but is there any mod or anything to increase the ps3 refresh rate? i uploaded a video on my channel about using rpcs3 mods to uncap and use 60fps mods on og hardware but i use a 120hz monitor and would love to use uncapped frame rates and get 120hz on them lower demanding titles heres my video incase you wanna see how i did it

Hi, guys. I'm planning on buy PS3 Slim 2000x or 2100x for overclock and i wanna ask if it worth it? Or it's better to just to buy Xbox 360 for console multiplatform? Many of you have 2500x and I got that it's great models for OC. But I just wanna buy console and be 100% sure it'll be overclockable. It's shame we only have list of OC recommendations only for 2500x's RSXes.
And else i'm really interested, will games with really poor optimization like The Darkness or Sonic Unleashed get comfortable perfomance and FPS? It would be really nice to see tests of these games.

I made a new benchmark video for Sonic Unleashed for the opening in-game cutscene and Act I (skip to 3:02 for the run). I include the cutscene after the cinematic (that one is just a pre-rendered movie).
I recommend 650/800 for 20XX PS3s. Mine is fully stable at 650/875.

I assume the main problem would not only be getting the RSX to do that, but also the video encoders that generate the actual video signals (which i believe its 2 on the ps3, 1 av 1 hdmi), and that would be before touching the system software to handle >60hz

No i don't think there's such a mod for refresh rate and I don't think ps3 could even handle it to be honest...

Guys give some love for this guy hard working

makes sense just thought id ask lol

The core voltage mod will require a single SYSCON eeprom byte change. Then you have to fix the checksum. It's not hard, just daunting for those not familiar with the process. It will not be possable to do via an update like the overclock is. Not without a major overhaul that ain't nobody got time for.

Update. I'm working hard on releasing it. Soon I hope!

Damn. Sadly most people won't be able to do this mod. Updates were plug and play...lol or brick :D

on my ps3 slim, I tried the 600-750 and the 600-700, in several games like gt6 and the last of us, and it works correctly, however on the tom raider, it turns off in the start menu, strange thing, someone But have you tried it with that game, or is my PS3 about to die?

Hey Tanzu just have a quick question What ps3 model did you have the 950/1000 overclock on?

Also the ps3 I'm running at 700/900 has never been opened. If I clean and repaste could my oc go further?
