PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

Hello, I was able to overclock my Slim 2501A (July 2010 mfr. date) to 750MHz Core and 900MHz VRAM stable* (*so far!)

rsx40 a01 750/900 vpe:ff shd:3f [NN2316-03:0:4:3:16:5:6:0:2][24:0:a:0:1:0:1][1:1:0]

I recently delid this Slim and applied liquid metal between the IHS and CPU/RSX, with cobra dynamic fan set to 65°C and min fan speed set to 35% the CPU sits at 60-61°C and RSX sits at 62-63°C

800MHz on Core causes artifacts and I didn't try any VRAM values higher than 900MHz as it seems like there isn't much benefit/large risks when pushing VRAM further than that anyways

I didn't do much before/after benchmarks but it definitely seems like the FPS in games like Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and GT6 dips much less and less often! I'm very pleased with these results :)

EDIT: regarding delid: came across RIP-Felix's delid guide and now know that best practice is to use high quality thermal paste instead of liquid metal and to reglue the IHSes to maximize lifespan of the chips. will be doing that asap!!

EDIT 2: increased VRAM clocks to 950MHz and everything still seems stable, gonna leave it at that, for real this time :P

my 2004a is dead, rsx is broken guys dont try 800/900 at 2004a consoles

i think 700/800 is best before my console dead

maybe a stupid question, but can't the ones with dead ps3s from oc just reflash with an e3 or something or is this actually causing damage to the system when using too high a value?

On nor console and if you can get an E3. Been looking but they're all fake and dont work, or from germany and expensive/impossable to ship to wherever (USA in my case).

I see. Sounds like trying to find a legit matrix infinity for the PS2. I think those have been rare since like 2006.

The ones from AliExpress are all fake too?. Crap, I was thinking about getting one of those.
I mean, it's not like I bought one from every vendor on ali to find out for sure...but I'm pretty sure they're all fake clones. @Nascar1243 bought one that was more expensive and looked identical to a legit one, on ebay, and it was fake.

Seems extreemly difficult to know what you're getting unless you can source them legit from germany.

Man my PS3 slim can easily do 950/1000 imagine pushing it to 1ghz on core. I'm so tempted to try 1000/1000.
expand your horizons and learn to solder 2 wires. Then the voltage mod is within grasp!

I'm too chicken sh!t .

I've been a bit busy with life but have finally had the opportunity to continue testing, I've picked up another CECH-2502B console with a 1A date code and it has been my best performer to date.

I've been able to push it as high as 950 / 1050 but sadly it's not stable at these speeds. 950 on the core produces no artifacts and seems to run fine with temps as high as 65c which is what I limit all my consoles to, but I encounter intermittent freezing in games regardless of temp at this speed. 1050 on the vram runs fine at 50c and lower, between 51c and 56c there are artifacts and at around 57c the screen goes black and the system freezes. I've opted to keep the console at 900/1000 as a result and it's been running perfectly over the past week, 900/1025 seems to be fine too but I'd prefer to have the additional 25MHz buffer.

I've included the usual details from the lvl1 dump and syscon error log below.

I've got my eyes on another console too, will post the results of that one here as well if I manage to pick it up!

My system crashes when running games like GOW and Crysis on a 950 core (900 can randomly crashes only on these games) , but less intensive RSX games work fine. The VRAM is running at 1200MHz and is stable at all temperatures, reaching up to 82°C without artifacts or crashes. However, about 1 out of 15 times during boot, the TV loses the HDMI signal and regains it every 5 seconds. I need to confirm whether this is due to the overclocking (core or vram) or an issue with my HDMI cable, but rebooting usually fixes it.

I'm not having free time in the past few weeks but I might increase my VRAM this weekend to try reaching 1300MHz or until i get artifacts, I'll post the results.

900/1000 is perfect for long term use. You got a great overclocker.

2.by mistake i flash cfw in FSM mode?
but the point is both ps3 is not showing up display i have flash my both ps3 with e3 flasher?

You bricked your PS3. 20xx PS3s can't remotely get anywhere near that high.
