PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

I don't have the game with me ATM but will try for sure.

When booting up Motorstorm, I had a crash with big artifacts all over the screen. Would that be more core or VRAM related ?

Back down at 750/850, no problem for now.

To summarize:

800/900 --> Artifacts in Uncharted 2 and even in XMB after the console heated up

750/900 --> Was all good even in UC2 at 78°C on the GPU. Random crash with big artifacts when booting up Motorstorm, right after I opened the game.

750/850 --> Wait and see.

Any suggestions ? I feel like the sudden unexpected crashes are more due to VRAM, Core gives warning signs such as artifacting from what I've read
It's likely the core being at 750. Memory shouldn't be problematic at 900. 750 fully stable would be a silicon winner really. 700 is 100% assured fully stable on all 25xx slims.

I hope that didn't happen with one of my uploads. That's been my biggest fear with uploading oc builds, especially when they're high or what I think are high.

Ok, will try this, thank you :)

No worries, I followed a guide to do it myself :)

Hello, I installed cfw pex oc evilnat 4.91 for PS3. Rsx only goes to 600/750mhz. But how can I increase it? I don't know what to do. Can you help me?

gotta build an oc pup yourself. I think that's what @Evilnat 's goes to.

Thank you for your answer.
My English is not very good, sorry for that.
I am not good enough to understand some details.
I installed CFW 4.91.2 Evilnat Cobra 8.5 [PEX] [OC] on my PS3.
There is only 600/750mhz overclocking option.
I want to overclock to 650/850mhz or 700/900mhz.
But I don't know how to do it and how to install it on my device.
I am using PS3 slim 2504 series device, are 700/900mhz or 650/850mhz values suitable for this device?
Can you share the file suitable for my device?
I would be very happy if you tell me how to install it.
Thank you in advance.

I can build them for you, but I don't know what's a good number for your unit. however, neither sound too crazy for a slim, so they're probably both fine.

"Thank you very much. I think I need to transfer these files to a USB and install them manually as a PS3 update. Will this delete the games in my storage?"

no, everything will be fine.

Hi, I recently got a 2501a from September 2010, manufacture: Sony
I know that Sony and Toshiba models can achieve a considerably high overclock.
Comparing with my other model 2501a TSMC, this one reaches core 750 and vram 950, this limit is noticeable since exceeding these frequencies artifacts appeared
On the other hand, the Sony 2501a model, I had a maximum of core 800 and vram 900 without artifacts, taking this into account I decided to keep core 800mhz and increase vram 925mhz, upon reaching 100% of the cfw update the console will shut down
Now when turning it on it lasts about 5 seconds and turns off without actually starting the system.
My question is, did I just brick my ps3? Or could it be the power supply?

Thank you for your help.
I uploaded the 700/900mhz file and it is working, I have no problems now. I don't know if there is any logic in going to higher values, but it seems to be working well for now.
Yeah, if you're good with it, I'd just leave it there. Several people have bricked their consoles by going too high.

Yesterday I tested my power supply with a friend's PS3 Slim and it worked correctly, that means the problem is on the motherboard, knowing this, test the resistance of the capacitors near Rsx and Cell , two capacitors near the Rsx show lower than normal resistance , I'm really not sure how I can fix it.

Is e3 flasher a guaranteed fix for a bricked PS3 slim ?! And how hard it is to do for newbies, and does it require soldering?!

I want to fix my bricked PS3 but not sure if its worth it, maybe buying new one will just cost me the same price as fixing it

Yes it is a granted fix if your ps3 is bricked software side not bricked physically because of a lost component or so

Basically if u bricked ur ps3 overclocking or any other thing it's the ultimate fix

Managed to hit 900/1000 on an Australian ps3 2502a

191 days of runtime

It had a bad psu so I switched to 20xx series psu

Crashs when it reaches 70c or high temperatures

Still no artifacts or overvolting needed

At 950 gpu core it just crashs no artifacts

There was reports that using 20xx psu on 25xx will give you higher clocks without needing to overvolt

I guess that's true

Gonna attempt same run on 2503a slim

Im looking for someone who willing to do it for me but nobody seems to be able to do it.

Wish I was more careful updating my system lol.

If anyone knows someone who's doing it as a service let me know please .

UPDATE ON THE 2503A ps3

rsx40 a01 950/1000 vpe:1f7 shd:7d [AP0021812:0:1:d:14:14:2:0:1][1d:0:a:0:1:0:1][1:1:0]

Gpu is 5300GGB

Overvolted it to 1.1v

Runs 950 stable now no artifacts or crash above 70c

Trying to run 1ghz on gpu when running a game shutdown the console and give no light of death and 1002 error am guessing if I can get 470uf caps and add them that should fix the 1002 error can someone control if that'll work?
