PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

Hey guys! I'm really new to this part of ps3 rsx overclock.. does any part of this thread contains useful cfw with 10-20-30% boost on rsx? If it fails, can I go back to a previous setting somehow, or that ps3 is gone 4 eva'? Thanky!

edit: forgot why i want oc...
There was some ps2 games.... (i think nfs most wanted) that was running on ps2 emulator mode, and it was about 5 fps.... as I would have been pklaying again in 2005 without a 3d accelerator, lol.

oc is a slippery slope. I think all consoles can have oc, as long as there's nothing something wrong with them hardware wise, but by how much is anyone's guess, so you should go up incrementally really. I don't have a cfw system, so I wouldn't know what I good value would be, but I can make you an oc firmware if you tell me what you what the values to be.

really appretiated! Thank you. Is it time consuming? I really dont want u to spend that much time, and also want to learn. I have 7 Phats at the moment, 2 BCs fully operational, eraser modded, rsx delidded... but Most of them are non bc models, some are even failed ones. but like to revive them, to be fully operational. So the goal is to have a slight increase in ps2 games via emulation.
Is that possile? respect! :)

It's not hard, no. I think @Mitsu™ has a video tutorial.

Iam going to try this

20 fps omg
Are you on a bc model with the 90nm chips? Did underclocking it so low change the temps at all?

Can someone make a 200/650 underclock , the other one didn't work for some reason. And the 100/400 was sluggish as hell, and when i tried to play gta vc on my bc cechC08 it lagged at the first screen.

Yeah i also installed it, tried to boot gta vc and it lagged immediately, sound too. Went immediately back to the stock
The xxx/650s seem to be bugged with mfw builder. I was thinking of trying to do it manually, but I wouldn't trust myself enough to ask someone to test it without a flasher, as I've never made a mfw manually before.

I'm currently at 400/525 on my 25** Slim.
If I remember correctly, RIP-Felix or Nascar went as low as 300MHz core, though it was probably on a FrankenFAT with a 40nm RSX.
As for VRAM, I think you shouldn't go too low. There are probably higher risks of instability associated with it.
At 400/525, I can still play PS1 and PS2 games without any performance issues. No slowdowns on the XMB either. For PS3 games, there is an impact, depending on how much the game relies on the RSX.
I don't plan to keep it as low as 400/525 for PS3 games anyway, so it's not an issue.
It's perfect for PS1 and PS2 titles, though.

I'm not sure if I'll try going lower. Maybe just for the core.

For now, we don't have much information or many reports about RSX underclocking.
And that's perfectly understandable ! Overclocking is more exciting, more "hype", so it gets more attention.
Still, underclocking could be very interesting (and an easy fix) for preserving these old FAT models.
People will need to experiment (cautiously) on their own.

Actually, you can. You just need to modify the "01_patch_rsx_oc.tcl" file (in the tasks folder) and add any frequency you want.
Any text editor can open it and allow you to edit it.
That's how I built a 400/525 PUP for myself.

Even when i patched it, to 300/600 & 250/550 for example in the file, it gives me a mistake for some reason.

Damn ffs, i think i bricked it i tried 250/600 and now after the update it doesn't start up. Green light, then yellow then red, then the red doesn't stop blinking. Ffs

You guys think with the E3 flasher it can work again?

I think so, but I'm not a hardware person. afaik, the only legit e3 flashers come from Germany, and they're now very expensive, so it may be more prudent to buy a new, used console instead. that is ylod btw, if the yellow light flashes quickly, then it starts blinking red.

No the yellow light doesn't flash quickly, i had a ylod console also, and it's not the same as far as i can tell. It's trying to boot up for a good time, then yellow light & red, and then the red starts blinking non stop somehow
I'll see what i can do

were these my builds? I'm not sure what could be wrong myself. I had always assumed mfw builder had safeguards in place in case a build wasn't exactly kosher, if you know what I mean?

No i tried it myself, usually it would bring me back to the stock speeds, but when i opened it with as "administrator", somehow it decided to give me this

Yes it was a fat backwards compatible model
