PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

wow since when we can increase the clock speed while playing without installing new cfw ?

I have't been active since long time and appearently a lot change.

How to change clock speed on phone while playing ? that looks very very interesting and useful
If you got internet connection to your ps3 hold the star and select buttons together you are going to get a pop up on your left corner copy the IP write this ip on your Google search browser and its going to take you here like the screenshot

Yes, then you just go to setup and increase the in-game speed to your liking with caution and patience [emoji2]

haven't been here in a while too. I want to know too.

Its very simple do the following:

On your browser with webmanMOD running on your ps3 enter its IP adress as your URL

You will be greeted at the file manager window of webmanMOD, now you can click on "Setup" and it'll take you to a page you are very familiar with as its the same setup as if you would do it in your ps3 browser (on ps3 it runs it locally)

Then you will find a overclock tab for XMB and In game speeds. Here just click on the box and select any from the table, and of course pick only that you know its capable of.

If you want to apply desired value, click on save and you'll see that the RSX speed will update on command, no matter if in game or not.

Just note that XMB sub section changes the clock whenever you are on the xmb, I personally set it to something lower than stock so who knows maybe itll ease the stress when not used.

In-game changes it for games. It will apply to every game you start. Now this might be a bit useless if you are playing a early title that has very bad optimization...

... so I would just leave that at stock and rename your game iso that is proven to benefit from a OC to give it a RSX clock speed prefix like [RSX700-900].

I hope this clears it up [emoji2]

I wonder if it's possible unlocking the frame rate of any game with PS3MAPI on webman I've tried searching for any tutorial and they all need at least a laptop-pc any way changing some codes manually without Artemis etc;

What to do if XMB freezes after setting to high clock? I can hear sound but screen is frozen.
If you overclock with webman you have two ways to save your console the first one is to aim a very cold fan at the top of it until it's freze cold or put it on fridge same trick ig after that just open your console and change fast your clock speed you've set the second way is you need to enter the recovery mode here's the video
after you enter you'll need to choose the 4 option restore ps3 system but you are going to lose all your data!

What did you use to set the clock speed? Using ps3 update for it is a outdated method and i wont recommend it to anyone

If yoi did this with webmanMOD then restart the console and press R2 or R2 and L2 im not sure of the button combo to start the console without any clock speeds applied

Hey guys, after the new update I need the 4.92 Evilnat ocli file. Does anyone have it? Also, my device is currently overclocked to 700 to 850. If I OC it with Webman mod, will it brick since it's already overclocked?

@Mitsu™ I was normally happy with the performance but after seeing your 1000mhz OC videos I got excited. ,D

No it won't brick if you try overclocking with webamn just don't overclock the xmb values only the in game core

After the revolution of the Webman overclock, I had manner of testing with peace of mind what clocks my PS3 Slim (CECH-2504B) could reach, after flashing the 700/850 CFW (Which luckily didn't brick me). After tinkering, I discovered that the core can clock up to 750MHz stable (800MHz will throw artifacts) while the memory managed 950MHz. 975MHz will be fine on XMB and 1000MHz will freeze. I could probably achieve 800MHz on core with lower temperatures, but it seems that when I push the fan above 60%, my PS3's hard drive stops working properly (due to the vibrations, perhaps?), and it corrupted the system, and I had to reflash. I think I achieved pretty average clocks.

More than enough really, past 750ish/850ish the performance boost vs thermals is not really worth it anymore

Seems to be that your 2504B has a "A1GB" RSX, probably fabricated by TSMC

The ones capable of overclocking the most are the ones that end with "GGB" which are fabricated by Sony, mine did a max of 900/1025 with stock voltage

But like i said, past around 750/850 its all just show and not worth it for performance vs temps

it is possible. But not every game will work with fps patches on original hardware. Visit this thread for more information Game Patches

Same here. I have a CECH-2101A. The temperature increases rapidly from 63 to 69 degrees celsius and when it reaches 69 to 70 celsius started to show some white artifacts when testing it running AC Black Flag. Fan speed locked at 40% or 50% doesn't matter. I didn't test with higher fan speeds due to not being practicle, playing with an helicopter inside your bedroom... I wonder if a water cooling would help stabilize it.

I'd gladly sacrifice myself to test cell overclocking and brick my console.

I could maby do voltage mods myself. But how do you even begin to figure it out?clocks and multiplikators.

Spending all day trying out hex and decimal numbers until you find the needle in the haystack?

It dosnt have to be 4.6 ore 6 GHZ,that would be a Huge in the OC World.
3.8 ore 4.0 GHZ would also make a noticeable difference, especially if the entire system is overclocked via the FSB.

You can already overclock without risk of bricking. Use Evilnat's CFW 4.92 and try little increases in the frequencies on the txt file until the console fails to boot.

You can overclock at boot with Cobra and overclock.txt file and the frequencies must be:
  • GPU/Core: Multiples of 50 (For example, 650, 700, 750)
  • RAM/Memory: Multiples of 25 (For example: 725, 750, 775)
My old OC variant was overclocked to 600, 750
