PS2 display splitting into 2 when in 480p?

I have PS2 PAL (slim) connected to a CRT with a component cable.But when I turn on the progressive scan ,then screen just splits into 2 with blurry images.

i think that means that the CRT does not support progressive mode.

There should be info in CRT manual which resolutions this TV supports.

Have you tried with a few different games or only one? I seems to remember it happens with some games when forcing a progressive/HD mode.

Yes.I have tried with different games but the outcome is same. I will est this with my friend's HDTV.

Input for component cable in tv, rather suggest that tv support progressive scan.
Different thing if that is composite cable.
But yeah, best way will be test on different TV, and searching online that your model support 480p.

I never seen one of those but apparently there are CRTs with component input without support for progressive scan.

Just to be 100% sure you're not having problems with GSM, try the progressive scan mode from a game that natively has it (like NTSC version of Gran Turismo 4/Tourist Trophy, or Jak 2/Jak 3/Jak X...).
