PS2 PS2 FAT NETWORK

Hello, just a quick question, does anyone know if there's a way to directly hook a network cable on a PS2 without the HDD adapter? Or if there's any 3rd party adapters that actually works for ethernet?

If the response to both is No, then, why no one has done any 3rd party network adapter that works? It makes little sense that no one has managed to get it to work without an official adapter.

Last thing, it's possible to use a 2.5 SSD on an official adapter with an ide to sata adapter?

The slim consoles have ethernet built in. Other than that, no you need the network adapter. I think there are a few 3rd party adapters that have ethernet, but I could be wrong about that one. You mostly want to stay away from the 3rd party adapters, though, if you're wanting to use an internal HDD. A lot of them don't work reliably.

Yes, it's possible to use a 2.5 SSD with a SATA to IDE adapter. I do this myself.

The adapter I have isn't sold anymore (I bought it back in 2011), but really any SATA to IDE adapter should work. Just make sure you're getting the right one - you want to go from SATA to IDE not IDE to SATA.

You might want to look into the BitFunx adapter - it replaces the IDE portion in the network adapter with a SATA one.
