PS2 PS2 Patch Engine unsupported cheat type error

Hello, I am trying to patch my Tales of the Abyss Undub iso with a widescreen pnach but when I try PS2 Patch Engine throws an error saying "Patch list contains unsupported cheat types. I know the pnach is good because it's working in AetherSX2...

Is there something Im missing here, or do some codes not work with PS2 Patch Engine? I've also tried converting the pnach to raw format and using that but no luck there either.

Well PS2 Patch Engine only allows codes that start 0,1,2 if the code starts with something else like D or E then its not useable, you could use a codebreaker (or a free alternative like "Cheat Device") instead but that can be complicated if you don't know how to rebuild the ISO properly (also more of a pain if there is any copy protection on the game in question, i don't have that game so i have no idea).

Well, that's disappointing news but that would explain it. Every code begins with EE :/

Is there any software than can patch with these codes? Ultimately I just want to get the game running in widescreen on PS3 through PS2 classics, but it seems the process isn't so simple.

EDIT: Are there any good guides for that "Cheat Device?"

actually all Pnach codes start EE on the 2nd section, that basically means its to patch the memory, its the next part that is the important part the bit after "patch=1,EE," if the next part begins with D or E (or possibly others) it won't work with PS2 Patch Engine.
I don't recall ever seeing any guides on cheat device, it does store the codes in a zip file with the program which can be edited in notepad, to insert it the games ISO would require editing the iso and rebuilding it, i do recall Haxxxen making a program a long time ago that allows you to do this from a memory card using a modified version of codebreaker, that might be easier for you to use since he did write a guide on it

Okay, I see. If I take out the lines beginning with E I wonder if it will still work.. Gonna have to find out lol.

And Im not actually on PS2; this was all supposed to be prep for an iso I was going to convert to PS2 Classic for PS3. Thinking I might be, so if that tut needs PS2 hardware I guess I'm out of luck

EDIT: I am an idiot. That looks like exactly what Im looking for so thank you!
EDITEDIT: Aaaaand nvm. Looks like I need CFW and Im HEN only. Sad day :(

I think the ELF CRC is changed if you have an undub version . So it won't be able to apply the cheat to the ISO .
Well. They worked in an emulator, but I had to change the name of the CRC to the new one. I guess that doesn't change something within the file though.. just one more reason this won't work :/

Not sure why you need CFW for this method ? it does say it works better on CFW but can be done with ps2classics (although i haven't personally tested this)
But there is another method you could try (again haven't tested this method)

I usually just use simple cheats if any on PS2 games so Patch Engine works fine for me mostly, i have done the cheat device thing before but i suck at explaining how to edit a game to allow it (it requires extracting the files but keeping a record of the LBA and then building the ISO with the original files but adding new files into the LBA at the end and changing the CNF to boot the new ELF first)

I think the ELF CRC is changed if you have an undub version . So it won't be able to apply the cheat to the ISO .
well he is trying to patch the memory, just because the CRC of the ELF has changed doesn't mean the memory address will be different, but if the undub patch does change memory address's then yeah that could also be a big problem (i don't have the game so i can't check)
