Hello PSX-Place community,
I'm reaching out once again to seek your advice and expertise regarding an ongoing issue I've encountered with SATA adapters and my PS2 consoles.
To provide some context, I initially purchased a BitFunx GameStar SATA adapter from AliExpress to mod my PlayStation 2 SCPH-50004 console. It worked flawlessly, allowing me to expand the console's capabilities with a modded HDD setup.
Recently, I acquired a PS2 SCPH-39004 console with the intention of modding it as well. However, when I tried to use the same GameStar adapter with this console, it failed to communicate properly.
Thinking that the adapter might be faulty, I ordered a Kaico Edition SATA adapter for testing purposes. Unfortunately, this adapter also failed to be recognized by the SCPH-39004 console.
Interestingly, both adapters work perfectly fine when tested with my SCPH-50004 console. I've also attempted to connect the modded HDD from the SCPH-50004 to the SCPH-39004, but to no avail.
Even more perplexing is that the HDD doesn't seem to even power up when the PS2 SCPH-39004 is turned on.
I'm puzzled by this situation, especially considering that I have experience with modding and have successfully used SATA adapters in the past. If anyone has encountered similar compatibility issues or has any insights into potential solutions, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.
Thank you in advance for your help and support.
Best regards
