Hi,
I have a PS2 Slim 70003 with a life-weary case and a faulty drive. I plan to replace the latter with the help of a DVD2SSD mod. The problem I have is with the case. I dream of a PS2 in the color of the first PlayStation. I thought about painting however the durability of even the best paints leaves too much to be desired. I thought about wrapping it with automotive film, however, this may cause problems with proper operation of the drive cover, for example. Therefore, I was thinking of buying some good replacement. The problem is that the only thing I found were cases from aliexpress which get good ratings only for the transparent versions. Non-transparent versions, on the other hand, usually have negative ratings. Hence the question, do you know where to get a replacement case for the PS2 in Classic Grey?

You could try messaging sellers of PS2 replacement shells/housings on AliExpress.
They're usually very open to customisation, but you might have to go through a number of sellers before you find one that can do what you're aksing of them.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't write because as far as I know people are very critical of opaque plastic cases from aliexpress. Apparently the plastic is of the worst possible quality, and the castings themselves are badly distorted.

I would try asking around there, including the sellers of transparent cases.

I would look at listings with good reviews (transparent or not) and then spam each and every one of them, asking if they could do a custom one in psone/psx grey.

Otherwise you'd probably have to look at 3d printing services.

Thanks for the advice, I will try to use it. Although it's a bit frustrating that it's possible to buy good quality replacement shells for the mass of portable consoles, dreamcast, PS1 or even PS2 FAT, and in the case of PS2 Slim such poverty.:frown new:

I would honestly just paint it man, I really doubt any of those third party makers would run a run of shells in a certain color just for you, and you are right those shells are really bad quality and not really worth it most of the time. Using a Krylon Fusion paint and a good clear coat and you would be good to go!

I was thinking more about wrapping with a car film if I were already going to play with it. It seems to me that such a solution should be more durable than painting.
