Yea for sure it's yellow light of death. Have to either send out and have a reball done, or reflow it yourself using electronics Flux and a temp controlled heat gun. Replace thermal pastell after doing between heat sink and plates. Fyi the prefix ps3 resource is only for adding downloads to our resource section.

ylod occurs due to how sensitive rsx is
since were on the topic of the ps3 and its cause it is ylod of death for sure 40gbs are notorious for heat temp being cranked all the way up
when a game newer than a 2010 release date is loaded topside.

Yea it's a 40gb model looks definitely YLOD which I should be able to fix reason for post was although the ps3 would turn on the lights weren't working on the console but I have fixed that with new cable.

new cable as long as you can handle it thats good

I repaired a cech a01 few years ago with a heat gun and flux, still works today, not my daily rig anymore though. It's cheap to do if you have the heat gun already, all it costs then is paste and flux. Under 20 bucks, add in a temp control heat gun and that's another 20 to 30 depending g on where you get it
