PS3 PS3 Blyray stuck to BD Emulator USB

NewFile

Developer
I am using 4.82 CEX Cobra 7.55
I was trying to play a game from BD and to my surprise nothing showed up. I reset the BD cable and all else. Still the same, nothing shows up.
I can insert and eject just fine. Blue light stays on. Cable properly connected because I can boot homebrew.

In multiman once I insert the a disc, I get a slight icon of it once I refresh in the top corner.

I remarried the drive and it went ok. Still nothing shows.

Thinking that the laser was wrong I swapped with another drive and remarried again. All went fine. Still nothing shows up. Still no BD icon.

I am certain that both drives should be working OK there is nothing wrong with them. I could also test with two ribbon cables.

So I believe I must have a configuration error somewhere. I looked into Debug Setting (DEX) and I see

Blu-Ray Disc Access set to BD Emulator(USB)
Put it back to BD Drive, I have to reboot and then it is still set to BD Emulator(USB)

Any help?

Normaly when these option's don't behave themselves I re-install the firmware to put them back to default. I might work and is worth a shot.

Have you REBUG Mode and Cobra mode on?

Cobra was always on and tried it with Rebug Mode aswell. Tried updating to Rebug 4.84.2 but I get an error at around 70% which should be for the BD drive. But homebrew would boot just fine so I am clueless on why I am getting this error about broken BD.

It was a game dude but mobile typing sucks

Now its stuck at 91% with 8002F14E error. Update loop :/

edit: saw that you've already tried updating rebug.i guess there's no harm trying with all combinations of drives and cables and fingers crossed that some combination will work and let you update to regular rebug and you'll avoid using noBD version.

i'm on noBD and although i've got more or less anything i really need i do miss having the drive pretty regularily.

I take it that it does the same when trying to re-insall the same CFW you already have on it?

One thing you could try is convert to DEX fully connect to ProDG and try and force it back that way.

Yeah I guessed that it was a typo... but couldn't resist the tempation to have a little bit of fun lol.

if i were you i'd first update to latest 4.84.2 rebug rex.

As per usual you jump in and have not read anything..... read again and you will see he's already tried to...ffs...:sang banghead::sang banghead:

You know it helps if you read all the posts in the thread not just the OP.

he posted in the same time i've posted that comment,at the time of typing there wasn't any answers and his post detailing what he tried.

C'mon stop fighting. Let's try to solve this. I managed to get to 100%. Had to hold the ribbon cable. The apps do boot but I am still on the same situation.
I really need the BD because my HDD is just 20GB and I have a ton of games in BD like GOW, COD, PEs and I simply cant be bothered with rippiing externally, FTP back and forth. GOWIII just wont fit. But I am certain that the both drives should be operational.
Thanks for your help.

Have you tried to use ProDG to force it back to the way it should be... it normally works for the other DEBUG settings.

I fixed it. Had to connect the BD cable to the motherboard very carefully. What surprises me is that apps would still launch but no BD sign on XMB. I wonder how many have though that the BD laser was dead when in fact it was the cable.
