PS3 PS3 CECH-2503B cfw update?

hello,
as it is said in title i have ps3 slim cech-2503b with rebug cfw(it shows rebug logo on boot). i am not sure witch version. system information says 4.85, but i webman info it shows 4.75 firmware. my question is it possible to update my system to
4.92.2 Evilnat Custom Firmware (w/ Cobra v8.5) and how to do it if possible?

i can just update directly from X:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP and thats it?

@baronkaz That's correct. Once on CFW you can simply update to a newer version via USB without needing to do anything else.

is it safe to update via usb on the normal xmb or in safe mode more secure?

Perfectly safe to update by XMB via Settings > System Update > Update via Storage Media. You would only really use safe mode/Recovery Menu to install firmware if you couldn't access the XMB normally. If there's anything wrong with the PS3UPDAT.PUP file the PS3 will fail to install it; it won't result in a brick if it's corrupted from the download/transfer to USB process.
