I've been working on automating as much of my gaming setup as possible (basically creating a smart home routine that will control my AV switchers, TV, and power on consoles when possible, based on voice commands or touch screen inputs) which brought me to the discovery that the PS3 has a Wake on LAN (WoL) function that is buried in the DEX debug menu. According to multiple sources (here and here), a console that has a PEX CFW installed on it can be converted to DEX, have the WoL function enabled, and then be converted back to CEX and the WoL functionality will be retained.
After installing 4.92.2 Evilnat w/ Cobra v8.5 PEX on my PS3 Slim, I was able to navigate to [Custom Firmware Tools] > [CEX2DEX Tools] > [Convert to DEX] then, after the console reboots, [Custom Firmware Tools] > [CEX2DEX Tools] > [Toggle debug settings]. Once this process is complete, I'm able to locate the WoL setting in the debug settings and enable it. From there, Wake on LAN works while the console is in DEX, but once converted back to CEX, it no longer works as other posts I linked above claim, though other DEX debug settings (like changing the O Button Behavior) persists after the conversion back to CEX.
Does anyone here know what I might be doing wrong, as I'd love to have this function enabled on CEX as others have claimed is possible. If anyone can provide some clarification or pointers here, it would be greatly appreciated, I'm new to CFW so while I tried to absorb as much information as possible before reaching out here, I'm willing to admit I may have misunderstood something along the way.
