Hi. i have problems trying to play PS2 backups i have successfully created for my real ps2 slim scph-9000x (90004) on my backwards compatible ps3 cech-axx (a06). most of the time they would show up as "Data Disc" which my ps3 can browse all the files and folders so i assumed there's no problem with bd drive laser. other times, they wouldn't show up at all on xmb.
my ps3 is running evilnat 4.92.2 d-pex and primarily used to play ps2 games. i already have another system, cech-pxx (p06) for playing ps3 games. my hdd is original 80gb taken from donor cech-Lxx (L06) and i have formatted it via ps3 system prompt. i cannot use the original 60gb hdd it came with since the hdd has too many bad sectors which i am unable to recover previous owner's data. i would like to use this 80gb until the end of it's lifecycle so storing ps2 games here are not practical.
should i revert to cex? or reinstall firmware? i have tried with original bd drive, one from donor cech-kxx (k06) and the same cech-lxx. of course i have remarried them via factory service mode. i don't have any original ps2 discs to test with. all i have originally is a ps1 gran turismo disc which worked on all three. dvd movies worked as well. i have also tested ps2 backups on my cech-pxx system which it always correctly identified them all the time. but of course, it couldn't play because netemu does not support optical discs. the cech-pxx is currently running on it's original 160gb hdd.
