PS3 PS3 CFW/JB newbie questions

As a newbie when it comes to jailbreaking the PS3 I hope you guys can help me out with some questions. Have lots of experience when it comes to modding and hacking the Xbox consoles but a complete noob at the moment when it comes to the PS3.

I recently got my hands on a fully working and in good condition PS3 backwards compatible phat model PS3.
I boots into 4.86 and can run homebew apps like mmcm straight at boot.

My questions are:

1. Since it runs homebrew apps at boot it must be flashed with some custom FW? How can I tell which one?

2. How can I upgrade the stock 60GB hdd to a bigger one without breaking the current jailbreak?

I also own a PS3 slim which I have upgraded the HDD on and jailbreaked with OFW and HEN which was quite simple .. like a softmod on an OG Xbox but the phat I just got raises alot of questions for me.

1. yes. 4.86 is probably either rebug or ferrox. it should have a logo when the boot sound is playing (unless it was changed after the CFW was installed). rebug toolbox says something on start-up when running on non-rebug firmwares.

2. swap the drive and reinstall the firmware (pup file). all saves, games, accounts, will need to be reinstalled/copied. (if something goes wrong, put the old drive back in and it should still work.)

BTW hen is not really a jailbreak. it is a Homebrew ENabler. jailbreaking means hacking to allow CFW installation.
