PS3 PS3 - CPU 82 CELSIUS, RSX 40 after reapplying thermal paste

Hi,

Today I've tried to sell my ps3 slim that had always worked perfectly. I've not used it for about 7 months.

It was returned from my customer because it shutted down. Yes, it was... So I cleaned it, reapplied thermal paste two times with tender care... but nothing, cpu is getting 82 celsius, but rsx 40.

I am using a hutixi ht-gd660 thermal Grease...

What I find very strange is that it is always the cpu that gets that high temp... what can I do ?

If I buy a better thermal it could cost me 17 €, it's not worth the money if I want to sell the console for 60€

Can I do something special with that doomed CPU ?!? That wasn't happening before, I cannot understand.

I think it is not about 'reballing' or making those hair dryer tricks (or even that about the oven), that was for the FAT mode, when it did not even started up. The problem is that it gets too high... Why ?

Thanks for the patience and attention !

Your model probably has thermal paste below the IHS which at this point must by dry like a stone, you have 2 options, read about eraser mod and try it if you have the adequate model or read about on how to delid CPU/RSX but again research if your model is adequate as there are models where the IHS is soldered so be careful. Also not sure if this is recommended but try to bend the clamps a little so that if creates more pressure.
