PS3 PS3 freezes as soon as I click "Enable FTP" in Evilnat 4.89.3 with an external HDD attached

I'll see if it works but do you know what might be causing the slow FileZilla transfer speed and the sometimes slow return to XMB from IRISMAN issues I'm having right now after the freezing issue on IRISMAN was apparently fixed?
Maybe it is your internet connection or the proper FTP server. You can try to fix the slow issue going to Recovery Mode and selecting options 3 and 4

Do you have any NTFS partition on the external HDD? If so, maybe this is causing the issue

I already chose those two options.

Yes, I do. I have NTFS partition where my PS3 ISOs are.

multiMAN, webMAN MOD, IrisMAN, Rebug Toolbox and xai_plugin uses a modified version of openps3ftp, I don't know if it casues issues

Can you try this sprx to see if it works fine? You need to put it in /dev_hdd0/plugins and add this line in /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt: /dev_hdd0/plugins/openps3ftp.sprx

https://github.com/jjolano/openps3ftp/releases/download/v4.3a/openps3ftp.sprx

EDIT: More versions of it to see if any of them works
Remember to add the name of sprx in /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt

So, I just have to download them, put them in /dev_hdd0/plugins, add the line in /dev_hdd0/boot_plugins.txt and restart the PS3?

No no, you can't have two FTP server enabled. Try only the three I posted beafore without enabling xai's FTP server and disable any server that is enabled

Today I did transfer more than 20gb of data with multiman turned off.

NO problems or freezes on my system. So now I will try to use cobra ftp.

By the way my transfer speed is about 21.5MB/s, limited by HDD on the ps3 side.

Random Guy what speed do you have when transfer files? wireless or cable?

Cobra will load them on boot, make sure it is enabled

It's always enabled.

If I use IRISMAN and FileZilla and with the PS3 and the PC connected to the router by cable (the PS3 is connected to a gigabit switch), I have 18 something MiB/s tops but when I have the slow FTP transfer issue, I have under 1 MiB/s. I don't know if the speed would be greater if the PC and the PS3 were directly connected by cable and I don't want to try it because the distance between themis big. So, the speed is limited by the PS3's HDD?

Yes the speed is limited by the HDD recording speed, if you use an SSD on the ps3 it will be a lot faster.
I hate filezilla its crap, try winscp much better that that.

Using a SSD on the PS3 increases the FTP transfer speed?

Why is WinSCP better than FileZilla? Is it faster?

I was told using a SSD on the PS3 wouldn't make it faster when loading and running games but can it actually make FTP faster?

I dont remember if it is faster than filezilla in MB/s but winscp is better because its very stable and filezilla its not. Try it and you wont regret it.
With HDD and winscp i remember to achieve 26/27MB/s transferring files on the ps3 but I dont remember the brand of the hdd, but I think that HDD is inside my fat, I have to check it.

Yes SSD is faster in everything on the ps3, some titles maybe not but in general yes and worth it.
Maybe tomorrow ill put one inside it.
Loading games is faster and file transfers also, even on xmb you will notice it.

Do you have problems on the PS3 when transferring files with WinSCP? I do with FileZilla.

I thought you were talking about the FTP transfer speed and not when running games on the PS3. I was told having a SSD on the PS3 only marginally increased the speed when running games. Anyway, the thing is, I bought this 1 TB HDD in August 2021.

EDIT: So, I used WinSCP and its GUI is way more confusing than FileZilla's and its FTP speed is the same.

I just noticed I have no boot_plugins.txt file in /dev_hdd0 because I didn't install webMAN MOD. I guess I should create it, add the respective lines and transfer the plugins to /dev_hdd0/plugins.

wait

I have this:

webftp_server_lite.sprx
webftp_server.sprx

And inside boot_pluggins.txt
/dev_hdd0/plugins/webftp_server.sprx

Do what Evilnat told you to do!!!
