PS3 PS3 - from HFW 4.92 to CFW or OFW 3.55

Forum Noob
Hello,

I'm new to this forum but have been an owner of a PS3 fat for many years. I am a lover of high-quality music, so I have used my PS3 solely for that purpose. Recently, after a year or two of non-use, I turned on my PS3 only to see that the hard drive had failed. I purchased a new SDD, replaced the drive, and worked to reinstall a comparable operating system. I was successfully able to install HFW 4.92, and then HEN 3.4. I thought this would allow me back to original functionality, but then realized that 4.92 went beyond.

I believe that because I have an PS3 fat, I am able to use bgtoolset's great work to bring my PS3 back to OFW 3.55 or CFW 3.55. I'm a little uncertain, however, the process, and wanted to ask this great homebrew community for clarification.

My questions are:
(1) Am I right, that with the latest version of bgtoolset, I'm able to get back to PS3 3.55?
(2) I understand there is a flash download, and then a flash patch process. I believe it's downloading the flash from my PS3, incorporating that flash's PS3 signature into the PUP 3.55, and then loading back in the 3.55. Could someone provide more details on this process? I know that it's an important one.
(3) Any advice on choosing between OFW 3.55 or finding a solid CFW 3.55? Again, I'm really only interested in high-quality music.

Thank you for any help and guidance you can provide!
