Hello
i had a major problem with my ps3 slim 4.89 hen , everything was ok except some black screen when loading games from external hdd using webman but fixed with forced restart.
today i tried loading my legal copy of persona 5 from my external pendrive then the console was struggling with loading the game via webman, the ''wait'' icon on the top right of the xmb was sitting there from several minutes then a black screen . i forced the restart and now the console at 47% of rebuilding database stops and shows the xmb . from now on, no way to load games from the usb and if so , it's very very slow and a message error shows that there is a error loading the iso when using multiman. i went to safe mode and tried rebuilding data base but the issue remained then i tried restoring the console via safe mode , now the only option available is to format the hdd ( not able to access xmb ) . i formated the hdd on pc in low level format using hard disk low level format tool because the ps3 could not recognize the hdd and was shuting down after pushing the power button + power button led was off. i am using a fat 32 pendrive with the official sony ps3 firmware 4.90 in PS3-->UPDATE folder , but unfortunately the console does not recognize the update file in the pendrive .
what should i do now ??? could it be that the usb port is damaged? any solution?

the exact message displayed when trying to install official 4.90 firmware from the usb in safe mode is : no applicable update was found. connect storage media that contains update data of version 4.89 or later

i've found a fix , the problem was that i had my wired controller pluged in while the ps3 trying to access the the update file on the pendrive and the solution was that , when pressing the start and select button you must unplug the controller from the usb port then after pressing the start+select buttons for 5 seconds you have to unplug the controller again and voila , the ps3 is updated . kept me the whole night awake trying to figure out the solution.
things to remember :
1.format the hdd using low level format +mbr
2. unplug wired controller before applying the update

sorry for bothering you guys.
