PS3 PS3 Slim CECH-20k with Carbonaut Thermal Pads

Recently, I made an experiment of putting Thermal Grizzly Carbonaut Thermal Pad, which is the extreme overlocking-level thermal pads. My PS3 Slim Cech-20000 was unopen yet with warranty sticker still intact and initially, I was decided to change the optical drive unit since the current ones can't read PS3 game discs except CD audio only. After the initial success of carbonaut experiment with my PS3 superslim which previously suffers too high temps from the RSX chip along with sudden jet takeoff noise even though I set the fan to 40% and having drastic RSX temp drop from 70 degrees celsius to at around 60 degrees celsius after I applied, I decided to do same thing to my PS3 slim as well.

Putting out the mobo from the heatsink is very hard because the thermal paste is already dried up and I cleaned it with some alcohol and applied Carbonaut thermal pads onto both RSX and CPU. Also, I put a tiny amount of thermal paste just too keep the thermal pads intact with the CPU/RSX surface to avoid the pads being flung off when installing heatsink. Note that I never delidded the CPU/RSX because I am not capable of doing this.

So far, temp results is quite impressive and running couple of games with heavy CPU intensive such as Gran Turismo 6 and also Prototype. On GT6, max CPU temp are at about 64 degrees celsius. Meanwhile, running Prototype will get at max 67 degrees celcsius as well. Fan are set to 41% and quite pleasant for me though. GPU temps are always lower than CPU on my PS3 slim and quite opposite with my PS3 superslim.

A delid would probably improve Temps, but if you're not comfortable temps aren't so bad.
