Hi there, folks! Hoping someone here may have some insight as to what the heck is going on here.
I have a cech-3001a slim system that has had some various issues over time. It began with a brown-out that borked the power supply. Swapped that out and then shortly thereafter, the bluray drive stopped reading games or dvds.
I've replaced the laser, with no joy. Thinking, "okay, maybe I just got a dud..." bought and swapped out the entire drive. Still no joy. I know they moved the controller board to the motherboard on this model, so swapping that wasn't an issue.
The drive loads and ejects disks just fine, but when loading, it does the secondary disk reseat and never spins the disk. I don't see the laser fire up at any point, so I'm wondering... Three different lasers don't seem to have any power, but if you move the laser down the track, it will track back to its original position... I'm hoping that maybe some of the controller hardware on the motherboard didnt get damaged in the brown-out and now no longer provides power to the laser diodes?
Or could this be something more simple? Am I overcomplicating this? Anyone have any ideas?
