PS3 PS3 slim freezes and shuts down almost immediately after startup with no red light

My CECH- 3004B PS3 slim recently started freezing randomly while playing games. It progressively got worse and worse and now it has come to a point where it shuts down almost immediately after you boot it up. You can see the animation when the system is starting up but then it freezes and shuts down with NO red light visible. You have to press the power button or unplug it and plug it again for the red light to show up again. Sometimes i get no image and it shuts down immediately or the image just freezes and stays frozen forever until i unplug it. I read online that it might be because of the power supply. I got an old but barely used PC Dell power supply and followed this guide: PS3 - [Tutorial] Connect ATX Power Supply to PS3 | PSX-Place
I connected it to the PS3 but the issue was still there. Now though it freezes even sooner. I could barely see the startup animation of the PS3 and because it would freeze immediately. Also i couldn't get into recovery mode. I swapped the old power supply back and then it took longer to freeze and i could get into recovery mode.
BTW i also replaced the thermal paste.
What is going on here? Is the MOBO of my PS3 simply dying?

Hmm it seems as if the bottom plate was making contact with the motherboard. I took the entire assembly out and sat the sides on top of 2 wood blocks so that the bottom plate isn't being squeezed and makes contact with the MOBO. I fired it up and its not freezing or shutting down. Maybe thats the problem. Any way to prevent the bottom plate from making contact with the mobo?
 
This could happen to an HDMI controller/wifi chip about to die. Sometimes it shuts down randomly, others will freeze. I don't think the plate is the problem, unless you let fall down the console.

I removed the entire MOBO, FAN, PSU etc assembly from the PS3 and placed 2 sides onto 2 blocks of wood. Now the PS3 is not shutting down. But if i put it on the ground and slightly press the metal shield the PS3 freezes and shuts down. I don't think its the wifi chip or HDMI controller. BTW i am using RCA not HDMI

If that's the case, you could try using some tape, or paper tape to isolate some parts of the bottom of the pcb and test if still shutting down, if persists, try the covering the rest.

okey so i removed the entire bottom shield and started the ps3. Still, most of the time when i press on it or hit it, it freezes. There is a higher chance that it will freeze if i press the MOBO near the FAN connector. On some very rare occasions it feezes by itself without touching it

That could be the RSX or CELL bgas. In this case a reballing on both should fix this issue. If you want to be sure of that, you can see the list of error your PS3 is generating when these freezes happen. I opened a friend's PS3 slim to clean it and replace the thermal paste. Since then the console starts and freezes immediately.

I noticed that by accident:
When I install the motherboard without the bottom metal plate, the console runs (tried it several times for about 15 minutes)
I have started it without the bottom plate and as soon as I press anywhere on the CPU side from below it freezes again.
From above I can press where and how I want the console does not freeze.
It is not clear to me which part is the problem.

I've never opened a ps3 before, but I have a 360, and cleaned it out. if that were to happen to a 360, I'd say something is wrong with the heatsink, like it's not making contact with the thermal paste or something. though, the 360 phat is an engineering disaster, because there are multiple places where the heat can escape into the console. I think someone said that the fan shroud is the most obvious then. anyway, pressing down on the console and it freezing suggests something, maybe heatsink, isn't making contact where it should. it could be overheating then. the 360 without a fan plugged in will easily overheat within two minutes.
 
The heatsinks are on the top cover. I can put this on and I can press on it as much as I want. The console stays on.
As soon as I attach the bottom cover, the console boots up to the start screen at most and then for another minute. Sometimes shorter, sometimes not even until then.
It then just hangs up. So it doesn't switch off or anything.
I can also leave the bottom cover off and as soon as I press somewhere in the CPU area from below, it also hangs up.
I've also tried covering some areas with paper and tape and then putting everything together.
The only thing I noticed was that the console doesn't start at all when I "cover" certain parts of the CPU area (the area with the capacitors, for example). It probably starts up and hangs immediately.
But apart from that, it doesn't matter what I cover, it's always the same error.
