PS3 PS3 Temps before and after repair

I bought my ps3 slim (used, 2501a model) from a gameshop last year and this were the temps I was getting with fan speed @ 40%:
CPU/RSX: 50-52°c idle. 54-58°C while gaming and 60-61°C on GTA IV (highest temp I got back then).
While cleaning my room I unplugged the console and kept it on table so I could clean the area. When I plugged it back the green light came on but it there was no video/audio and the fan was barely audible.
I took it the shop I bought it from and the guy broke the warranty seal underneath, opened it up (the insides were really clean) and scraped out the dried thermal paste before putting a copper shim on the gpu (about 1/3 the size of the gpu), applied some chinese silver thermal paste on the processors and assembled everything. The console worked!.
This are the temps I get now with fan speed @ 50%:
CPU/RSX: 51-53°c idle. 60-66°c while playing Resistance 3 and Killzone 3 demo.
Are this temps okay? And how bad can a paste be to get worse temps than a dried out thermal paste?
