Hello, I'm completely new to this and this is my first attempt at repairing a PS3.
I bought an old, defective PS3 that has a YLOD (Yellow Light of Death).
The motherboard is DYN 001.
I took it apart and immediately noticed that it had been opened before. I then tried to read the error codes using SYSCON. This was more work than I expected, but I managed it.
Only one error is always displayed. Here's the log:
I've found out that this error is probably related to the TOKIN chips.
Now I wanted to take a closer look at them and try replacing them myself.
However, I've now noticed that they have probably already been replaced. Since the TOKIN logo on the component isn't the usual NEC TOKIN logo, but something else is printed there (see picture):
WR 2R0 120 941A
Google also tells me that these aren't the original parts: "Based on the query and common PlayStation 3 (PS3) repair terminology, '2R0 102 941A' refers to a specific component used to fix the Yellow Light of Death (YLOD) on PS3 consoles."
My question is: Is it even possible to replace the TOKIN (WR 2R0 120 941 A) again? Since it's already been replaced once. Or could it be something else?
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Thanks
