PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

I have a CECHK01 PS3, do I have to downgrade to use unsigned code or can I use HEN?
you can use HEN on any model, but your model can also have CFW. Depending on what version you are on, if 4.88 you can use bgtoolset, or use HEN if you want. If on 4.89, then you can use HEN, but not bgtoolset yet.

i would like to see the bt/usb game audio patch as a toggle. :) i do not use it much anymore myself. i started making it because if all the people that asked for it in Louay's old thread. They seemed happy to have it.

@LuanTeles
What happened when you used more than 5 mappings in HEN?
Did the kernel crash or did Cobra just ignored the remaps?

To be honest, it seems like different remaps have different weights, for example when I was on the limit of map_paths , I was using 7 at the time, if I added map_path to change the hen logo, the games mounted via webman would not work ( webman mounts the game but it won't load the game icon and gives an error when trying to launch it)

To resolve this I needed to remove 3 map_paths from xmls.

In other cases if I added a new map_path the system would crash when exiting a game, the Xmb tried to be loaded but only the wave appeared and after a short time the system would freeze.

And there were also cases that when any action that requires external plugins on the xmb, such as the xai plugin or entering a game, the system hangs with the clock icon spinning until it crashes. ( This one could happen using the gameboot map path, but it's rare)

No crash on HEN loading though?
Only later on when using one feature or another, correct?

Oh, so I don't need a hardware flasher to downgrade to install CFW once bgtoolset is updated for 4.89?

can anyone else confirm that this package fixes current display issues? The package manager will be the next issue fixed (it does currently work, but stutters on sub-menu, and has broken icon until HEN enabled), but at least most people should not have the weird display problems anymore. We can push this out to server probably soon, if it fixes most issues.

Thanks PS3 is working great has fixed all graphical errors and installed without issue

Model: Superslim Cech 4202c

i just received hen 3.1.1 with the autoupdate , everything seems ok without any graphic or system issue :) i'll continue to test (and play games XD) for the next two-three days..
Thank you so much to devs for the great support

actually, here. Try this and tell me if it works?

http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no L...it.me =new)/han/test/etHANol-v3.0.6-test2.zip <- Using HEN RCO
http://**ps3xploit.com >Domain no L...it.me =new)/han/test/etHANol-v3.0.6-test3.zip <- Using "Without Custom Icons" RCO

i updated the HAN Support Files zip. I removed the dex explore_plugin.sprx and replaced the explore_plugin_full.rco with the one @sandungas made for HEN, for 4.89 only.

EDIT #1: Please tell me if the Package Manager is broken

EDIT #2: Please try test3 zip. I updated the RCO to use the "without custom icons" from @sandungas

I'm sorry, I can't test them... I don't have the PS3 with me (aside from still being on 4.82 OFW xD).

It's not really for me anyway, as I don't use the PS3 anymore so far. The one with HAN is sitting there waiting for my father to want to play some games on it. The one I used to use has CFW (so I never bothered to update the HAN one), and still I've been on PC since a few years (new hobby is messing with low-level programming and other stuff).

I just update the toolbox in case someone needs it, which people still do it seems (last toolbox update in July of 2021 still has 3000 downloads). I don't even test the toolbox on newer FWs... I usually trust that task to you and just copy the offsets xD, since the HAN PS3 is still on 4.82 and the CFW one on 4.84.

EDIT: I might be able to try them next weekend, but I don't guarantee (as long as it's not something which takes too much time as I'm studying). Though I'm not in a hurry, because it's not something I need as I said above. If you'd want to release it sooner or later, no problem for me.

and moved the package manager into a separate xml file?
I think this is a good idea, its the way Ultimate Toolbox sets up the XMB. Also moving HEN enabler to its own xml would be good too IMO, and even app home maybe, this way those and the category_game.xml are independent of each other. So one or the other can be updated without messing up the other one, as long as the category_game.xml has the correct queries.

I did my category_game.xml like this but there are lots of ways:
Code:
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="seg_gamedebug" src="xmb://localhost//dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/app_home.xml#seg_gamedebug"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="hen_xmb" src="xmb://localhost//dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/hen_enabler.xml#hen_xmb"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="ultimate_toolbox" src="xmb://localhost/dev_hdd0/game/ULTOOLBOX/USRDIR/Ultimate_Toolbox.xml#main_menu"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="seg_package_files" src="xmb://localhost//dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/package_manager.xml#seg_package_files"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="external_xmb" src="xmb://localhost/dev_usb000/external.xml#external"/>

When done like this it also makes it very easy to toggle app home, package manager with xai plugin or exploit, just rename the external xmls.

*Note: the double // after "localhost" in the path is important as it blocks the "file missing on flash" panic if one of the external files is missing/renamed. With this // in the path it behaves just like a EMMC superlim console and ignores the missing files.

what if we just added a stub (in category_game.xml), like for HEN Toolbox, and moved the package manager into a separate xml file? Then the category_game.xml wouldn't need updated, but the external package manager xml would, right?
Right, i didnt realized about it when i wrote my post, but the standalone version is made that way

This simplifyes the installation of the PKG addon with translations. So the PKG contains the custom explore_plugin_full.rco and the xml file dedicated to the package manager with the references to the custom rco texts
Im mentioning that the xml for the package manager needs to be dedicated to it because basically you are going to have 2 versions of it, one with the custom texts hardcoded to english in the <Pair key>'s and another where the <Pair key>'s are loading them dinamically from inside the custom explore_plugin_full.rco

To achieve that i honestly think the easyest way is to use the standalone version i made, keep in mind while i was doing it i was extremelly respectul with rebug changes, is one of that times when i dont want to review or improve it because i would enter in a infinite loop of improvements and changes of my personal preference, i was trying to avoid that so i "cloned" the classic rebug package manager in the most identical way posible
Im mentioning this because is not like im insisting in it because is better... actually it was intended to be identical :)

Additionally to that you need to create the other xml to load the custom texts dinamically (well, you dont need to do it now, this is mostly to be used in the "PKG addon" with the translations, so there is no hurry, and someone else could do it), i guess an easy way to do it is to use the standalone version as a base and restore the <Pair keys> to point to the .rco

And additionally... you need to delete all the code related to the package manager sections inside the current category_game.xml
The only thing related with the package manager that you need to keep in category_game.xml is the link to the external xml file, and you can use the alias "%flash" to short it
Code:
src="xmb://localhost/%flash/xmb/install_package_files.xml#seg_package_files

Actually... that system allows to replace the package managers easilly just by installing one of that "PKG addons"
And if you take a look at the official files (CEX/DEX) the xml code of the official package manager can be converted also into an external xml file... as far i remember i made one like that too, so we have all this versions:

1) Official package manager
2) Rebug package manager classic (english only)
3) Rebug package manager classic (translated, requires a custom explore_plugin_full.rco)
4) Any other you want, the only requirement is that it needs to be written in a dedicated xml file, and optionally you can include a custom explore_plugin_full.rco with custom texts and icons for it

In the default HEN installer i would use option 2)... or 1) if you want to take the minimalistic approach

Thank you, 3.1.1 fixed the xmb bugs for me :)

When you logged in for psn, did you take any additional action? Is the previous registered Psn information still valid? Is it necessary to log in again according to the new system?

Note: I know the new sign-in options
