PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

When I went to update to HFW 4.91, it gives me this message

"Until further notice, please remain on this firmware.
Visit PS3Xploit.me for new exploit announcements regarding newer firmware versions"

Am I doing something wrong?
That message is on purpose. Try installing HFW in recovery mode.

just remove HEN and run auto installer again from the browser, you should be fine
I did it, I had installed HEN yesterday and wake up to see that a new version and new HFW was working
I had some problem to install HEN auto installer it keep saying it could not find some string and numbers. But it worked in the end

Hi, how do I update? I mean so far I have installing the OFW twice, then the HFW twice then HEN, are special steps now because I read some post saying they got errors after updating to 4.91 accidentally(before 3.3.0)

just install HFW 4.91 once from recovery mode and then run the ps3xploit.me HEN auto installer. There's no need to install the OFW again.

Where do I find the autoinstaller? Or you meant the installer from the site?

So I have updated PS3HEN but need to sign into PSN. However to do so I need to update to OFW 4.91. Do I just sign out of PS3HEN and then do so?

It gives me the following error when I try to enter from the PS3: The page cannot be displayed (80710a06)
make sure it's http://, not https//.

if it's asking for you to update, that means you haven't installed HFW 4.91 yet, just HEN 3.3.0. Do so from recovery mode inserting a FAT 32 USB containing the PS3UPDAT.pup file under PS3 > UPDATE. Note that you need to install HEN again afterwards. You can safely sign into PSN as long as you don't enable HEN when you restart the console. Do not install the OFW, otherwise you'll lose the jailbreak.

I've downloaded the HFW update file. Do I rename it to PS3UPDAT.pup? also, how do I boot into recovery mode?

yes, rename it to PS3UPDAT.pup and put it into the UPDATE folder inside another folder called PS3 in the root of your USB. With the PS3 turned off, keep pressing the power button and then release it once it turns off again after a while. Hold the button again and you should hear 2 consecutive beeps, release the button and a pop up to connect your controller with a usb cable should appear, then follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Did what you said and I got an error message. Error code is 8002F2CF.

Edit: Redownloading to see if the file got screwy. Saw the download failed so I suspect that may be the issue.
Edit 2: Yep, corrupted file. Downloading it fixed it.

usually that means there's something wrong with the .pup file, download it from http://ps3xploit.me/firmware/hfw/HFW_4.91.1_PS3UPDAT.PUP again and as Coro said use the actual extracted .pup, not the zip. Also check that the file is fully transferred into your USB.

If the downloaded file for HFW 4.91 is a zip, it must be extracted to the root directory of the USB drive formatted in FAT32 MBR.

The zip file should not be renamed to PS3UPDAT.PUP. That will not work.

The PS3UPDAT.PUP must be verified that has the MD5 hash: C2717C377EB4F0FF458B8819B1E53D50

The PS3UPDAT.PUP must exists within the folder PS3 > UPDATE of the USB storage device.
