HEN Auto installer initialised the exploit in the browser, then went back to XMB and now is frozen for a few minutes. Normal? What should I do?

Also there's no HEN Installer 4.91 pkg yet.. is that coming soon? I only see 4.90 option as latest

note: I had 4.90 HFW + HEN installed on an old HDD yesterday, I decided to use a new bigger HDD today. So I backed up my files via the PS3 backup tool, then swapped HDD, loaded in with 4.90 OFW, restored from my backup. I had no HEN to uninstall. I installed HFW 4.91 and then tried auto installer HEN.

If the downloaded file for HFW 4.91 is a zip, it must be extracted to the root directory of the USB drive formatted in FAT32 MBR.

The zip file should not be renamed to PS3UPDAT.PUP. That will not work.

The PS3UPDAT.PUP must be verified that has the MD5 hash: C2717C377EB4F0FF458B8819B1E53D50

The PS3UPDAT.PUP must exists within the folder PS3 > UPDATE of the USB storage device.

Its because the extracted pup needs to be renamed as well since the file available to download in the site it's not in the right format already, i wasnt talking about the zip. Though I do agree that this should have been done beforehand to avoid any confusion. They managed to update the firmware so its all good.

Ok, you're right. I thought you were talking about the zip. The PUP file downloaded from http://ps3xploit.me/firmware/hfw/HFW_4.91.1_PS3UPDAT.PUP must be renamed to PS3UPDAT.PUP within the folder PS3 > UPDATE of the USB drive formatted in FAT32 MBR.

Auto installer is only responsible for installing HEN 3.3.0, in order to update from 4.90 to 4.91 you will need to install the HFW 4.91 first through recovery mode and only then install HEN

I hard reset my PS3. Now after trying again, it initialised but fails to install, says 'HEN failure - restart ps3 and try again' - I've tried three times though now and still failing. Any advice?

try cleaning cookies/cache and set the auto installer as the home page on the configs, then close the browser and open it again.

I can't help but notice that the whining about the HEN release waiting time stopped. [emoji16]
You guys most likely taught esc0 never to even hint at an ETA, not ever again..

We have planned to finish the Toolset testing tonight, but of course I won't make the mistake of giving an ETA.. LOL

I had set as about:blank - I'll try setting the install page. I'd already been clearing cache, cookies and browse history

edit: that worked for the install, but now after rebooting, my controller won't pair! Resetting it with a needle worked though.

Hi @all,
I'm not able to update from OFW 4.91 to HFW 4.91.1.
PS3 SuperSLIM CECH 4304A
Some info on my trials:
1) PS3 is on OFW 4.91
2) all trials were made with 4 different USB pendrive, (8 to 32 GB, all formatted FAT32, 2 USB2.0 and 2 USB3.0, all working on PC without issues)
3) If I try to update for XMB "Update from storage media", it finds no update (this is normal as I'm already on 4.91, I guess).
4) So i go to recovery and ask update from here (option 6).
5) It finds HFW 4.91.1 (it says "PS3 System Software - Version 4.91.1 HFW - [hybrid and exploitable]"), and ask me to press PS button, then it checks data for a while, gives some disclaimer related to the HFW package, that I must accept and proceed pressing X (I did it, both with wired and wireless controller, just to be sure)
6) It starts to run and the percentage goes 10% .... 20% .....23%..... it take some minutes to reach about 23%, then it accellerates the percentage rate in a couple of seconds to 100% and auto-reboots. (I see no error message)
7) at the reboot, it ask me classic questions like to switch to HDMI video output...
8) but I'm still on normal 4.91, no HFW installed. (System information shows just "Version 4.91", as before the procedure).

Some test I did:
- as I said, I tried to switch different pendrives
- I double checked MD5 hash of the HFW file, it's correct.
- I tried both USB ports, same results.
- I tried to switch internal storage (HDD or internal flash), same results. HDD is just wiped, nothing installed, as flash.
- I tried to wipe the PS3, factory resetted, same results.
- I tried with both LAN cable plugged or not, same results

What can I do? :concern:

HFW really is pratically identical to OFW, so even if it's already installed you wouldn't notice any difference from the xmb alone. It's actually supposed to show just version 4.91 in system information. Proceed with HEN installation to see if it works:
-open your ps3 browser, clear cookies and cache
-go to http://www.ps3xploit.me/ and select "auto installer" under PS3HEN in the top left side
-it will ask to download a package, wait until it finishes and then set this page a the browser homepage
-reload the browser, it should redirect you to the auto installer. No need to install the package again.
-run the installer. If everything goes well your ps3 should reboot and show the HEN icon during start up. You're free to install any plugin and homebrew app now.

i did, but that is not what bg said, or what i said. a quote is a direct reference to another person's wordings, you took a small part of BG's reply, and combined it with a different part. as you did for mine as well. this is a predatory technique. also, bro said 24-48, it's been almost 27. there's literally no point to NOT give a release date. we know it's tomorrow, so why not just say that? kind of scummy, no?

There is literally NO ETA... it can be in 2 days, 2 weeks, etc... it will be ready when it's ready. That simple. Stop begging.
