PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

If you installed OFW 4.92 first, you won't be able to install HFW 4.92.1 to load hen, hence the error, you'll most likely have to wait for 4.93, it's never good to install OFW if you plan on keeping hen, as unlike custom firmware models, you can't just flash back & have to wait for new firmware drops from the devs.
This is completely wrong information. You can install 4.92 ofw and hfw as many times as you want and it doesn't matter.

As long as you install hfw before installing hen, it will work. As mentioned by @LuanTeles , just use auto installer (https://ps3xploit.me/hen/installer/auto/index.html) and it will work. Set auto installer page to home page for best results.

(stupid me didnt notice that the .PUP was missing from 01 folder)

Hello so i thought id ask if it was possible to ask for a feature to be re-enabled in hen

so long story short i was able to re-install HFW from the ps3 itself trough the QA flags (i used the debug menu or qa flag update menu whatever its name) and i would select the HFW version of the same fw version i had and i was back on a clean fw install all from the ps3 itself no need for usb drives.

basically this menu

anyway i am well aware that on cfw machines its mostly used for downgrading and such and that such a thing its not possible on metldr2 consoles, but since i sometimes liked messing around with gameboots, or wanted having a clean fw install again for whatever reason that option allowed a quick and simple way to do so

now its a few extra steps due to that option being disabled, which in the grand scheme of things its not so much of a problem but being able to do it all within the ps3 itself was nice

if it was disabled to avoid problems to novice users then its no problem if i have to re-enable trough some config file on the ps3

This feature has been available for a long time now. When hen is enabled, you can set debug flags (using button combo to unhide) for some stuff and they will reappear when hen is enabled.

What is your question? Lol

(it was my fault, following test is irrelevant)

hello i am well aware that it has been available as i had used them in the past however for some time now when hen is enabled the only option from that menu that is enabled is update via storage media, update via internet is grayed out (pretty self-explanatory) but the 2 debug ones are also grayed out

those two debug ones to be enabled again are the ones i was asking if they could somehow be re enabled even of trough some config file on the ps3 or something like that

The update via internet can be enabled with a dex kernel using a debug url that can be set via debug settings (or xregistry.sys), or via software_update.sprx patch.

About the debug ones, the updates must exist in dev_hdd0/updater/XX (01 up to 99) to be enabled

forgive my stupidity (it was my fault)

i had indeed the directory set up properly and the 01 folder correctly too, but somehow in the last 4 years the .PUP inside 01 folder got deleted someway and i forgot about it, i just re-downloaded 4.86 hfw and its enabled again

(but i could swear that a year or two ago even with that file in there it was still grayed out, storage is a non issue since i have a 1tb disk on it, maybe it was a newer version of wmm idk am using a quite old one)

again forgive my stupidity for wasting both your times

ill go and stand in the corner....

You are trying it on windows. Look at the URL ffs.

The page looks at firmware version from a valid ps3 user agent string to establish URL. So it must be 4.80 - 4.92 found or its invalid.

You mean this part?: "0;%20Win64;%20x64"

That makes sense to get a 404 after the redirect.

In other times, I was able to reach the installer page even on a normal browser. That's why I've made that test.

Hello, first of all, thank you. I'm having a problem with the pkg games on LuaPlayer for PS3. It turns out they work the first time I run them, but then they stop working after that. I have to reinstall the pkg game (replacing it doesn't work either).
Thanks... I'm using PS3 4.92 with the latest version.

hey where can I get older hen version? I looking for 3.0.3 because latest is unsable and crashing (ps3 slim cech2504b)

You can download them from the official site (just change the payload and firmware versions in the URL)
e.g. https://ps3xploit.me/hen/release/PS3HEN_3.0.3_4.84_FW.zip

Be aware that some PS3HEN versions are not available for more recent firmware versions. e.g. 4.92 is available only for 3.4.0.

Also take in count that 3.0.3 and 3.3.0 are not the same versions. This is obvious, but I mention it just in case you meant 3.3.0.

Can you provide more details? Firmware version, plugins loaded, not enabling, crashing launching games, homebrew?

Seeing you have a 2504 slim, you may as well just use cfw honestly. But I am curious what your issue is. You can try using debug mode (from hfw tools -> development -> switch mode) and getting a socat log to see where its crashing.

Could be a hard drive issue, or even overheating, etc. Would need more info.

And as Aldo said, if you are on 4.92, 3.4.0 is your only option for hen.

Edit: you can technically recompile any version from source to use newer firmware, but you are on your own with that, because so many things have changed over the years, it is unsupported to do so. It is open source after all.
