PS3 PS3XPAD Plugin (v0.2): Experimental Plugin, wired XBOX360 controller Support on the PS3 !!!

The plugin development on the PS3 keeps heating up, Recently we have seen some new plugins, Such as the PS3 VSH Menu advancements, GameBoot Cycle Plugin, Ps3Lock Plugin, and also recent advancements in the SEN Enabler plugin that incorporated the new VSH Menu from 3141card's research. This time around we have an experimental ps3 plugin called PS3XPAD by developer OsirisX, this plugin will allow user's to use a WIRED Xbox360 controller on the PS3 Console[break]ss[/break] that is running CFW and has the ability to boot background loading plugins (i.e. Cobra CFW / PRX Loader).

This PS3 plugin should be consider experimental at this point, The official controller and also some Third-Party controllers (such as Razer Onza) are supported, There are some drawbacks obviously as there is no wireless support at this time, also rumble is not supported, then also due to the differences in the DualShock 3 and XBOX 360 controllers some games could serve problems, so be sure to report any problematic games here in the comments below:

Note: One tester (malckdaddy) has claimed that he has better results using this plugin via PRX Loader then the boot_plugin.txt (on Cobra CFW). There is not many details on this testing and no word on conditions of the testing environment , So consider that info when using this plugin and let us also know in the comments of your testing results.

Version 0.1

This needs more testing but I made a sprx xpad driver for ps3. Not all games will work with it but most should. Currently it only supports wired Xbox 360 controllers. I may include wireless Xbox 360 & Xbox One controllers later if people are interested.

Also there is no rumble for now. (Need to find a way to grab actuator params from games). The Xbox button maps to the PS button and LEDs correspond to the port number it's connected to.

Note: Playstation DS2 and DS3 controllers have pressure sensitive buttons while Xbox 360 controllers do not. This may make some games like Metal Gear Solid unplayable. Sixaxis is obviously unsupported too.

Version 0.2

Here is a new release which includes some third party controllers like the Razer Onza. Also as verified by malckdaddy the plugin seems to load better with prxloader rather than boot_plugins.txt method.

I happen to still have my wired 360 controller I'm gonna give this a go tonight just for fun as I still prefer the DS4 pad the most. But its nice to see such movement in the plugin department on the PS3.

This is pretty sweet. I have no problems loading from cobra, only thing I notice is the joysticks are just a bit jittery sometimes.

That is a hardware fault of the 360 pad as they don't use pressure sensitivity. It is cool to see this done with software instead of hardware like the Cronus Max though.

definitely. I like all aspects of the 360 controller over the ps3 one aside from the dpad. currently, I have seven 360 controllers. one of them is the one with the adjustable d-pad. unfortunately, u need to rotate the d-pad periodically like rotating the tires on a car. otherwise, the d-pad will suffer from hairline fractures. I've replaced my d-pad in the adjustable d-pad controller twice. it was chrome, then I went with gold, then blue. it still sucks though compared with the ps3 one. the 360 controllers use this long cylinder to rise the d-pad which I think may be the problem. when it's not resting on the pcb, it's simply not as responsive. and, with constant pressure being applied to certain areas, the d-pad has a tendency to break. though, with older 360 controllers, they put plastic around the corners to prevent fractures. the 360 controller with the ps3 d-pad would be the perfect controller for me. well, having used the wii-u pro controller, that may be the best controller in existence as it has a retro d-pad along with the ergonomics of the 360 controller. plus, on one charge, the controller can last as long as 80 hours. I'm not kidding about that either. I've owned the wii-u since August of last year, and I bought the d-pad a month later. I've only charged the thing twice.
