Ps3 developer @esc0rtd3w (of Team Ps3Xploit) has a new release to show off as PS3Xploit (v3.0) HAN user's will now have the ability to change "Coldboot" (the startup/boot logo), with the new HAN Coldboot Installer (.raf (logo) & .ac3 (sound) supported) StarMelter (logo) & d1mtr7 (sound) provided the first coldboot for HAN as they pay tribute to the PS3Xploit HAN in great fashion with this injection of HAN .Another great thing we are seeing progress on also with HAN is XMB MODs, DeViL303 recently start this thread "XMB Mods now possible on OFW with HAN" there is some interesting details within that thread and worth checking out if you are intrested in XMB modding.   How To Use:
  
  • 4.82 OFW: Download Cold Boot Installer ZIP archive
  • 4.84/4.85 HFW: Download Cold Boot Installer ZIP archive
  • Extract the files
  • Place coldboot.raf, coldboot_multi.ac3, and coldboot_stereo.ac3 on USB flash drive or select one of the internal HDD options**
  • 4.82 OFW: Navigate to this link or use local files above and a webserver
  • 4.84/4.85 HFW: Navigate to this link or use local files above and a webserver
  • Run the exploit from page and allow console to reboot fully
  • Done! Enjoy your new boot logo and sounds

'Expoloit Initialization FAILED!' im on rebug 4.8.2 any ideas? tried manually replacing in dev_flash with mM also but console just locks up

you need to enable dev_blind if using mm. its option is near the bottom of the settings column iirc.

Tried this, system still locks up...Read in a different thread the ps3xploit needs to be set to home page (I'm on cfw so I didn't know anything about HAN) so I set it as home page initialization now works but it's been hanging on installing cold boot for about 10 minutes now...Doesn't seem right as its only 3 files to copy over

i have ps3 fat 4.84 hfw hacked initialize cold boot installer it's give me the green words but when i click on the next one my ps3 be forzzen can u please fix this

 

It took probably 10x running the exploit, but it did eventually install the cold boot. I appreciate all of your hard work. I'm running 4.85 hfw cex on a super slim. Thanks again.

You can just create pkg that contain your wanted visual/xmb mods in your case is coldboot with pkg maker (see related thread)

coldboot should be in folder custom/dev_rewrite/resource/coldboot.raf the output pkg will be custom.pkg

You can rename custom.pkg to My Coldboot.pkg for exemple

You are on HFW 4.85

1. Install HEN
2. Click on ★Enable HEN

5. Click on My Coldboot.pkg it will start installation (in first HEN version it shows 8001003A at 14% dev_rewrite is not mounted because HEN didn't activate properly but from v2 till latest version it works no problem as to check if HEN has been enabled succefully you just go to Network column if you See ★Hybrid Firmware Tools then HEN is activated if not then reboot and click ★Enable HEN)

and you can install your pkg any other time you want without need to wait for Coldboot installer inisialization or failure multiple time as HEN is offline and have much succes rate,if never fail for me

Thanks again. I just made like 6 package files for fonts, lines, coldboots, etc. I saw a couple of other things to play with in HTML. I am curious about a Java script I saw on the above lined thread for offline. How does that work or how do I install that?

coldboots are universal. they work with all firmwares. even if something went wrong, it wouldn't affect the system.

Yes, in a way, I was kinda asking if a custom cold boot from 4.85 installer would work. I know that the image and sound files aren't exactly fw specific.
What I wanted to know was if the html installer would still work correctly even tho I'm on a higher fw. (I noticed that it had updates when newer fw versions were released before. So, I just wanted to make sure.)

Edit: Is there a manual way to do this with mM file explorer or something? Your response almost seemed to imply @pinky

if you mean injecting the coldboot, then yes. enable flash write privileges, and override the file in vsh/resource/coldboot.raf

You can write to flash (usually mounted as dev_blind or dev_rewrite) as long as it's just resource files like coldboots, waves etc. Trying to replace any executable or signed files (SELF) will likely lead to a soft brick on HEN.
