I was given a slim PS3 CECH-2001A 120GB. It did not have a controller. I bought a used Playstation brand PS4 controller for $5, and plugged it into the USB and it worked moving through menus. The BluRay on Ps3 would not work so, yesterday i used BGtoolset to jailbreak the PS3, install Rebug CFW 4.87 (or latest). I used the PS4 controller plugged into the USB port the entire process. I didn't have any games, so I got a back-up of Gran Turismo 6 and created an ISO, transferred to my NTFS external HDD, and used multiman to boot up the game Gran Turismo 6.
I was able to move through menu, and make a player profile, and select start new career. The game then put me on a test track and the controller would not work, but it still read the input. SO if I hit the X button for accelerate, it would change to X on left of screen but there was no game input. I was able to backout with the PS4 controller but not use it for game input.
The PS4 controller will not light up unless it's plugged into USB. I am trying to charge it now with a regular android cell phone charger USB cable. The controller just glows from an amber color then slowly off, then back on. I did read the the PS4 controller is supported by the PS3 both wired and wirelessly.
I don't know why the controller doesn't light up or anything unless it's plugged into USB. Even when I try to register it under system settings and MANAGE BLUETOOTH controllers it won't pick it up.
What really confuses me is why does it work on the menus when plugged in, but it will not work for game input. I am downloading more backups and will try different games, but I guess I will have to break down and buy a PS3 controller, if I can find one.
