PS4 On 5.0.5

Hey Guys

Found a PS4 running 5.0.1 so I updated to 5.0.5 and completed the jailbreak a couple of questions

1) Should I update to 6.72?
2) Can I run PS3 games off an external drive?
3) Should I use HEN or Golden HEN?

Thanks

1. 5.05 is the golden firmware, so don't update.
2. you can run games from external hdd, yes, either with extended storage or app2usb. extended storage is better, because any system running hen will be able to run those games.
3. hen and goldhen don't have any difference in terms of stability, but goldhen offers more features.

Can I play PS3 games? if so how?

6.72 exploit is very random result. Once i got 30 continuous success with zero failure. That's great. Other times have also got 3 continuous failure resulting in improper shutdowns due to KP. Overall i found that success rate is around 80%. Many people have said that 5.05 is more than 90% success rate and its pretty reliable. Updating 5.05 to 6.72 doesn't bring any real benefit given that many of the new games & patches have now been backported. 5.05 remains the most stable version.

PS3 emulation is a distant dream in terms of stability. Top Ryzen CPUs still struggle to give a good experience & stability on PS3 emulation. You can see youtube videos on this.

PS3s are pretty cheap these days & you can find one at below $100. Its a good bargain given the extensive library of games & more options with homebrews compared to PS4. Use your PS3 for playing PS3 titles. PS4 not meant to play PS3 games.

the cmos issue is also a thing of the past thanks to goldhen. someone on temp tested it in fact by removing his cmos battery entirely, then trying to play some games. goldhen didn't care that rtc or cmos battery was incorrect/not inserted. games still worked. if you do want to redo your rtc with cmos battery, 5.05 is the only firmware that can do it as well. you'll mess up the rtc on later firmware. a dev friend of mine had that happen, but he can still play games thankfully.

Licenced games and discs don't work with golden hen with a dead cmos though but fpkg backups work fine.We need to find a way to get the kernel clock set back like on 5.05.

then simply don't your digital games and discs before that happens. they're dumped in the same way, and it's very easy.

someone said that you can fix the time on 7.55 with I think todex. I cannot verify this though. does that mean 6.72 is sol? my friend messed up the rtc with the kernel clock plugin on 6.72, I believe. I don't know if he plays his legit discs or just fake pkgs though. I don't play any of my discs anymore. if you try inserting a disc of the same game as a pkg installed, it will force you to delete the fake pkg or rather it will ask you to. disc won't work otherwise iirc.

looks like fixing the time doesn't work on 7.55 according to my sources. whoever said that must be wrong. it still doesn't work above 5.05 or it hasn't been confirmed at least. you can play games with a messed up rtc using hen though. I don't know much about todex or if that's required or not. I mentioned not being able to play disc games or official psn games to them. I don't know if there's a way around that.
