1. Do not use Rest mode. Keep rest mode disabled for now.

2. Do not use USB & LAN during initial setup.

3. Use HDMI provided by Sony.

4. Turn off TV functions that automatically turn devices on and off

5. Avoid transferring your PS4 data to PS5 for now.

Console Bricks reported during two specific scenarios. Exiting from game by going into rest mode. Freeze of PS5 during PS4 data transfer and user forcing hard shutdown during the freeze.

Thread Update 10 Dec 2020

Error code CE-108262-9: Users who routinely experience system crashes, failures, and error code CE-108262-9 may be seeing system deterioration and faulty hardware that will necessitate a call to tech support.

CE-108262-9 is not the type of error code to wait for a firmware fix for. If you see this error over and over again (or even just a few times), consider contacting PlayStation support for a potential resolution. There is currently no known fix for this error code.

This...is why buying a ps5 is stupid. Having an external hard drive attached to your console when you play a game is a typical usage scenario that should have been tested fully before release. Games that freeze/crash shows poor qa on BOTH game and hardware teams. The software errors I can forgive, but hdmi.... c'mon....

Hopefully sony bought ya dinner first, and you at least get a reach around...

Buying a PS5 right now is not WISE. I recommend waiting for two years before buying...But this is just my personal opinion. I will play at least a 60 games on PS4 before i even consider a PS5.

Well, dont panic, i dont think is so bad, honestly i was not expecting all this problems to happen but some are understandable

It looks the database manteinance service/s are very picky with either the new ultrafast SSD storage, or the kraken controller de/compression, but cerny mentioned clearly that they are still working in trying to squeeze the max performance from the SSD, and they are still waiting for the SSD manufacturers to release new SSD models and submit them to sony to get the label "oficially compatible with PS5" approval
Is obvious they are going to continue working in that direction for the next years to come, probably the firmware inside the SSD controler can be updated to better software versions, and the next PS5 motherboard revisions will have a better (and smaller) SSD controller
What was not expected was the database going in between, lol... that could be a pain but solving that kind of problems related with the database is not a challenge

The problems related with USB... hmmm.. maybe is related with the database too and indirectly with the SSD, this doesnt makes much sense

The video output... well that was another thing expected, they are waiting a bit for the TV manufacturers to "standarize his shit"... things like VRR, the different quality labels of HDR, HDMIv2.1 specifications, or the intermediate 1440p resolution 2K intended for PC monitors... are still a bit confusing for the consumer and there are many TV models that doesnt stick to standards or promotes his features in a confusing way, etc...
Lets say... sony doesnt have hurry with this because the TV manufacturers needs to make the move first

I agree with @sandungas about the issues. Basically PS5 is a powerful computer BUT it is extremely locked up by the company. So consumer doesn't have any access to various settings of Motherboard, HDD, APU etc and rely on simple menu of console to plug & play games. It takes hard work to tweak & optimize firmware to the best potential. We are yet to witness a serious hardware flaw in Console or its design. Firmware/software problems were expected.

But i feel that Sony didn't do its groundwork on Beta testing. All these problems with bugs/crashes/freezes etc should have been identified in testing stages and fixed accordingly. And i can conclude that company was in a bit of rush to launch console when it was not fully prepared.

Absoutely expected indeed, since they never solved the hdcp problem on Ps4.

Ps3 also uses hdcp protection but never had those issues.
The Ps4 issue seems to be caused by the implementation (apparently approximate...) of more and more standards, causing conflicts also with older revisions (older tvs).

Yeah, is better to wait a bit to see what does the most popular TV manufacturers, and then sony will try to stick to them, specially if are royalty free standards

At this point the best they could do with the hdcp is to stick in whatever standard is more popular (i think there is one from intel) and stick to it... and the TV manufacturers that refuses to use that standard or implement in a incorrect way... well... thats his problem, eventually the TV manufacturer will realize they are doing it wrong !

Also, with some of this technologies at the end of the day what matters is what the consumer demands... if the consumers refuses to use something then the TV manufacturers will have to change it... and yeah... eventually the console manufacturers will have to adapt to it too
Im thinking in the stereoscopic 3D TV's, not the best comparison but it was a disaster :D

In my oppinion the PS5 dynamic resolution, VRR and the HDR technologies are as much important than the hardware raytracing... well, the 4 things together are going to look awesome when implemented well in a AAA videogame (and when using a good quality TV)
But i have some doubts about the HDR, i remember to read months ago that there is some kind of "HDR comitee" (probably composed by people from lot of hardware companies) that presented his specifications for a modern HDR standard labeling convention
As far i remember... there are 3 qualities HDR500 HDR1000 & HDR1500
And it looks this time they did it right because the consumers can deduce which one is the best based in the numbers :D (bigger is better, ok got it)
I think this HDR feature is very important because it achieves high quality of blacks and white colors and allows to have very subbtle color smoothings all along the whole range
In few words... it means the quality of the TV panel is awesome

A TV panel with high quality HDR is like the cherry on top of the cake (and the cake is the PS5)
Right now im not sure how much expensive are that TV's with high quality HDR so not sure if it would be worthy, but just incase someone is looking to buy a new TV dont subestimate the HDR, and keep in mind there are different qualities of HDR

Probably the hdcp problem isn't simple to solve, since you should keep retro-compatibility while updating the support to new standards.

Many 4k HDR TVs with latest HDMI protocols have that problem (the tv loose the signal for some seconds once in while) and it also happens on my Philips HD tv (that's a CRT, with 1.0 or 1.1 HDMI I think).
They (Sony) partially solved the problem adding the option for disabling the hdcp (if you have a tv that shows the problem you can turn it off when playing and back on when watching netflix, youtube, etc.)

HDR is the actual improvement on nowadays TVs (not the 4k). I played some games in HDR on a my friend TV, the LG B6 Oled (that supports HDR-10 for games, UHD BD and Dolby Vision HDR for Netflix).

As a video tec. enthusiast, aside HDR standards, I don't really like the current Tv/monitor market...

About ray-tracing, it is a very good thing for current consoles, as long as it is optional. It is very demanding but soon or later it has to be implemented, the story is always the same.
For a precise example let's take Final Fantasy IX on PSX:
Using pre-rendered backgrounds they got this visual impact:

Now, good luck finding this kind of detail, density and overall perfection throghout the field of view on FFX (Ps2) poligonal backgrounds.

It was a step back as general visual impact, it takes another generation (at least) to reach that kind of impact on poligonal backgrounds.
Btw Ps2 was powerful enough to a overall very good 3d presentation, and the advantages of poligonal rendering tipped the scales.

It was the same back to early 3d era (Ps1). There were 2d games on SNES with a pratically perfect presentation (like actual cartoons), Ps1 King's Field, Air Combat, Tekken, were a dirt and blocky step back, but they were considered good enough and 3d has its obvious benefits over 2d.

Damn, im taking a read at wikipedia and it seems we are again with the contradictory labels, it looks the article i did read was about the VESA specification published in 2019, and the HDR-10 from the TV of your friend is from 2015
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-dynamic-range_video#VESA_DisplayHDR
Dont know how progressed that battle up to today, but i guess VESA is going to win that one

---------
I just realized there is one named: "DisplayHDR 500 True Black"... i dont know anything about it but the name is really tempting, lol

For any future PS5 owner, we now have the PlayStation fan lottery...again :mad new:

This time is Delta vs Nidec, if you have a Delta fan congratulations, if you have Nidec like me, you´re a bit f@cked,and youre in need of some minor modifications, but only if you´re picky like me :sang banghead:

I'm not very much into panels calibration since some years. But I still was when HDR came out (I still have the early calibration discs for HDR panels).

It was quite a mess firstly (as usual) and it seems it still is about consumer market.

Actually those standards have generally the same overall impact to the eye. There are different specifications due to monitor differences (mostly due to LCD and OLED differences), viewing environment and also differences in the source material kind.

Generally LCDs are good for HDR in quite bright room, but I think OLED is better 'cause you actually need a dark room for a quality vision (since our eye adjust to the average contrast, so you cannot really see low light scenes in a bright room even on LCD).

Indeed you can notice in the table you linked the last two are referring to OLED panels (you see the required standard for the black is lower than any LCD can do, aside maybe double panel LCDs that aren't still on the market).

What matters for HDR is the number of stops (brightness doubling points) the display is able to do. For example a 600 nits OLED can have a wider HDR range than a 1000 nits LCD because the OLED starts from absolute black.

Please explain what mod you're talking about, and links to any relevant article(s).

Are you talking about removing the sticker from the fan after removing the grille using a security torx?

Wish it was just a sticker smh :disturbed:

The sticker was just 1 in a million, this is a 50/50% chance, and NIDECs are louder this time around, they are not centred and create vibrations thought the chassis

I solved all my ps5 issues by not buying one until they figure out how to make it properly.

My exactly thought. ^^ For now it is unfinished product (and user can't even copy it's saves, ridiculous!).

On top of that we still don't know how long internal soldered SSD will survive on constantly full RAM dumps (this is why games can "works" simultaneously and switching between them is so fast) and video recording. How much it will slow down after few months? And what happen when promised M.2 SDD will be supported and attached - does everything from soldered one will be transferred there or it will be still in use. I have bad feelings about it. :)

There's hardly any Console generation which didn't had issues specially in first models. PS5 is no exception and users who buy it, knows & accept the fact. Better models of console come when company learns and find fixes of issues with time. If you don't wanna take risks, than at least wait 6 months - 1 year for buying it.

Edit - By the way, me & @Fin9ersMcGee have already decided to buy PS5 after 5-6 years of its launch. :encouragement:
