PS3 PSNpatch - Releases / Usage Information (Official Support Thread)

kokotonix i had reply on the topic of rebug ;)
bguerville, i've a Slim model (2000 model, 250gb version), and a Fat model too (160 version), i can make some test on it too, but only on the end of the week to see if it happens too
Ok kapa
Holidays are over!
We can start testing this plugin issue with cobra enabled/disabled if you want.

If you are busy right now let me know as I also have a few tests to do regarding 210x 'hanging' problems with some types of reboot system calls then report results to aldostools.

When doing the tests, if you are able to replicate the issue, confirm then with and without usb disk.
It is also important to try with a disk with just one fat32 partition, one disk with fat32 as the first of several partitions, and fat32 not being the first partition.

kokotonix, i only have fat32 external hdd, With only that partition, so i'll make the tests With external game in folder and With ISO file from internal to see if i can replicate the issue in both ways

bguerville kapa,
Some additional info for your tests:
It is (let's say) "admissible " for the PS3 to hang on boot with these new_cores.
Usually a hard reboot (taking the plug or pressing the power button for more than 15 seconds), and the system should reboot properly.
What it is not normal is for the PS3 always hanging or to corrupt anything at the registry level.

Before doing any "radical" moves there are a bunch of flags to control the new core behaviors - take that on consideration when doing your tests.
More info in psnpatch docs, faqs and released portions of code.

Sure, the flags are already prepared on a USB key.

It should be fine.
Hanging issues are not a problem to test here. The registry however is a different story.

Could the corruption happen in a way that is not obvious? Could the console for example boot up properly despite parr of the registry being corrupted? In which case the tests would not be valid!

kokotonix and bguerville, i look at psnpatch doc files and i saw that is better to have a filesafe file named core_flag on a usb drive, but my question is, how to create it? i've looked and didnt find information about that

That's the name of a file you can create using your pc. If the file is there the new core will bypass its execution.

Webman configuration doesn't seem to be connected, but please validate.

kokotonix, ok, but how can i create it and that file is essencial? or is only to avoid cfw reinstalation?

Create a core_flags folder on your key then do a right click in that newly created folder, select new, then text file. Once the file is created, remove the name & extension to replace it by the name of the flag: failsafe

Yes it is in case you have some problems.
But better safe than sorry.
You should not test without it.

kokotonix and bguerville and Joonie, i've finish my tests, and i'm suprised with the final result, because it was different...

ps3 FAT CECHP04

installed the both version of plugins (with cobra on and off) runned red dead redeption in both modes and zero issues (internal folder)
Tried with batman asylum (USB), zero issues
Tried without game loaded, on and off, in both modes (cobra on and off), zero issues

SLIM 2004b version

installed both version off plugins (cobra on and off)
In non cobra mode zero issues, game loaded, console shutdown and booted again without problems then activated cobra mode, loaded the game (via webman), shutdown, when boot, the issue happens, sony logo and the message "setting information was corrupted. Settings have been restored to default and user information has been cleared."

PS3 2004b with Rebug 4.75.3 with webman, game loaded via webman 1.43.04, it happens with game on internal disk without usb hdd connected (Mass effect 3) and with game loaded via usb hdd (fat32) (Batman asylum), afted disable the plugins on non cobra mode, everything is back to normal...

So i'm really confused, because two different ps3, two different results...

BTW aldostools, i've discovered a bug on webman 1.43.04, on my fat ps3 it only recognize the games on usb000 and on ps3 slim it recognize the game on two usb ports, but only shows the games when i've the usb connected on ubs000, if i've both usb connected it dont show me the games, is there anyway to restore webman 1.43.02 that cames with rebug?

It seems to be something very strange related with your console.

Furthermore being in cobra mode only, as the new core bypasses loading immediately when running in cobra, doing nothing.

The source code is properly documented and released together with psnpatch distributions, in case someone wants to look at it.

kokotonix, it is really strange, but that is the result that i've got... btw, is possible to get again the the webman that cames with rebug 4.75.3 again without reinstalling cfw?

My main dev box is CECH-2001B, which should behave 90% the same except its native region is NTSC while yours is PAL, and I have never faced that type of issue.

Something is corrupting your registry

Joonie, for me is not a big deal the situation of not having the plugins in both modes (cobra and non cobra) but is really strange that this only happen on the slim... and happens with any game (i made the test with 2).

Try "restore system defaults" / "restaurar as definições padrão "

And then please redo your tests.

About webman issue you've describe before, you shouldn't call it a bug. It is just a question of configuring USB timmings: different disks, different sizes, different fs fragmentation, different number of files, different configurations. Get more info in webman specific threads.
