PSP PSP-GO Pause support for PS1 emulator

When you play PS1 games on the PSP GO you have the option in the emulator to "pause" the game.
Basically saving a current snapshot.
This is available in both my PSP GOs, they are both japaneese.

But afaikt non of the other PSP's have this functionality in them.
I doubt they have a different version of the ps1 emulator just for psp go or if it is special for the japaneese market.
Does anyone know anything more about this?
Is it possible to enable this support on other models/non-japaneese versions too? If so, how?
It is a neat feature an would be nice to have on other models as well.

I am not sure but this feature should be available for all regions PSP GO with CFW:
Go to Custom Firmware Settings, and set "Inferno Cache" to "Off"
I also prefer "Prevent hibernation deletion on PSP Go" set to "Off", since I want to be able to delete paused game
And make sure "Disable PSP Go Pause" is set to "Off"
Then press SELECT and choose "RESET VSH"

It is not region specific, but the Go does have a special version of POPS that allows for pausing, as well as analog control with a connected DualShock 3 controller. Maybe some other stuff, too.
