until some time ago i kept a backup of my yakuza 3 copy on a 32Gb pendrive but it broke recently and i bought a 16Gb as a replacement but since the game is 20Gb and i still want to keep the internal hdd lightweight as possible i wonder if i can split the game with split 4g and put a quantity of parts on the pendrive and others on the internal hdd and webman would still run the game

No you will not be able to do that, the game be either all on the internal HDD or all on an external hdd. The only exception is when the game (disc) is on an external hdd and the "install" data/game updates are on the internal.

You might be able to "strip down" the size of the game so it will fit. The reason some games are so big is because of the amount of language files in the game for different languages.

What you do is run your game through "PS3RIP" which is a tool to remove these types of files from a game and reduce the size, leaving only the language you want.

This tool is part of @aldostools PS3Tools Collection. Have you game in folder format> select the language(s) you want to keep > select allow > then run the tool... it will then rip all the files that do not match the language you have select and replace them with 0kb empty placeholder files so as to not break the game.

Before you run the tool properly you can select "enable Simulation" at the bottom and it will dry run the ripping process and tell you exactly how much space can be saved before you run the tool properly.

Your welcome,

It defo works on HEN as I did this with BO1 and 2 on my HEN system. You could then use PS3 ISO Tools to rebuild the ISO while its on your PC.

A little extra info for you> you can do this for game updates and DLC as well so it will reduce the amount of space used on the PS3's internal HDD as well. Just transfer the install data folder to PC and run the tool on it and transfer back all the 0kb place holder files created and overide the OG ones on the HDD. To save having to transfer large amounts of data 2 times in a row.

Or if you backup everything like I do, DLC > updates. I do the same with the custom backup pkgs I made for all my DLC then just rebuild the pkg so it only has to be done once and not every time you want to install the DLC.

Same with game updates> extract pkg on PC > rip > rebuild pkg > install on PS3.
