PS4 Question about upgrading HDD

Hello.
I have ps4 500gb with firmware 9.00 I want to change the HDD with 1TB that I have from my old laptop. What is the procedure to do it without accidentally updating to higher firm than 9.00? I don't care about anything in 500gb HDD, so no need to backup.

Then just swap HDD's and grab the full 9.00 update.

Is the MD5 to ensure you have the right file. It is the one over 1gb not the one under 500mb that is needed. Darthsternie has the files you need. Quick search of that name & PS4 will take you to his repository of Sony firmware files. Just ensure the LAN cable is not connected till GoldHEN or another way to block updates. Since going a new HDD your wifi password isn't saved so that is t an issue.

Cool. What about hdd format? Right now it's Ntfs. Does ps4 format it itself to a exfat or I have to do it from laptop before installing it?

PS4 using GPT as partition table and plenty of encrypted partitions in UFS2, FAT32, TMPFS and raw. That's doesn't matter what it contains, for her it will be empty drive.

And before You will do that, make decrypted saves copy, registry backup to restore later etc. Eventually make system backup copy (doesn't contains trophies). Also wise be reading EAP Key.
