Hello PSX Palace!
I was directed here by a nice redditor in the hopes that someone far more capable than I could help me. I got a PS3 at a yardsale $30 The Fat Boy, surprisingly good condition despite having leaves in it, anyway!
I want to play my PSX, PS2, and PS3 titles (some disks don't work due to it being the fat boy.)
What would be an idiot-proof, step-by-step guide for this?
I figured out the differences between Multiman and HEN, and it seems like HEN would work better for me as I only want to play my older games. But how does the multi-disk function work for the PS2 and PSX titles? (I have iso's of the PS2 titles and Bin/cue's of the PSX titles.)
I heard in some instances you should have them on a USB and plug and unplug the USB from the PS3? Another use Webman to change the disks (might not work on T-Mobile home internet, due to it being a CNAT network.)
Do I need to convert my bin/cue files into an ISO format for multidisk games? How does the file structure work in this setup? Do I have to name a folder PSX/(GameName)/(Disk 1)? Is it PSX/(GameName)/All the games named disc 1, disc 2, disc 3 respectfully?
Can someone direct me to a step-by-step guide to using HEN? Will I need a USB flash drive for HEN, an external USB HDD for my PS3 titles, and an internal HDD for the PS3?
Summarized.
1. What do I need to start?
2. What application packages will I need to play PSX, PS2, and PS3 games?
3. How do multi-disk games work for each platform? (Is there a simple setup like the Gamecube or PS Classic where it just automatically reads it when it's in the same folder?)
The whole process for softmodding a PS3 is confusing me as it's not as clear as the Wii homebrew scene and feels a bit more convoluted. (Guessing my PS3 should NOT be signed in when doing any of this?)
Thank you for your help, if you have the time to help me.
