Hi everyone, i found this SSD on sale at 335€ on Amazon and i want to know if it's compatible with my base PS4, i already have a 8TB external drive but i have plenty of games and shitty internet so i really would like to avoid uninstall and reinstall all my digital games every time to free space. I've red that this drive causes some issues on PS4 Pro, but i also red some time ago (a 2022 article) that PS4 Pro is limited to 4TB internal drive and the Fat PS4 support even 8TB SSD and i want to know if somebody already tried this on a old PS4 model.

Check length, width and height of this SSD on producer web page and compare to Your HDD or whatever is inside.

BTW: I'm sorry for a little derailing Your thread but I have a question to the user of external drive. Does games on external drive have their icons in PS4 menu only when connected or it is always there, even when disconnected?

The icons are still there even with the drive disconnected, the only difference is a little triangle just after the play button.
The SSD fit perfectly the console, but from what i read online it suffers from power loss issue whenever the console crash or the power goues out forcing you to format entirely the drive because it can't rebuilt itself and i don't understand why.

Really? That makes external drive quite pointless. Not only because tiles occupying space in menu but also, which is worst, no one know when terabytes go to hell. Thanks for clarification, You healed me from buying USB drive. ^^

You're welcome, but still my question on compatibility remain unanswered i guess. You can still create a folder and put the games from external drive there and you know which game you have on the internal or external. Of course i'm talking about OFW, honestly i don't know if it's different with HEN or whatever is named on ps4.

That price is a killer for most people, so not many users willing to put 8TiB into PS4, while we have now PS5 on the market. Sorry but I'm one of them.

If You asking about compatibility on software level, then I believe it is. PS4 using GPT as partition table which covering far larger disks. For main user data partition, OrbisOS using UFS2 which also covering far more large sizes (ZiB ;]). All the rest partitions have the same sizes on all models and storage type so they are beyond debate. So in theory all should be fine if this SSD fitting to HDD bay.

I have unhacked PS4. So I looking for official games, patches and dlc backup way which will not stick to this specific console unit. But it seems it cannot be treating like that due to the issues You mentioned. If I have hacked PS4, then I would decrypt all and move it to fake packages, keeping on PC. But as long I'm on pure OFW, then I can do nothing about that. Well, anyway, maybe one day this will change and finally someone publish exploits for fw which is not year or more old than current one... ^^
