PS3 Random Fan control on OFW Idea

I noticed that if you enable HEN once with webMAN Mod running while having a manual fan % speed set, Then if you turn off the console to standby, that manual fan speed is remembered on the next boot even when HEN is not enabled. I guess this is due to the fact that syscon is not reset when in standby.

So this gave me an idea for a way for OFW users to have fan control for free with no real ban risk. I wonder if there could be a html set up with a web flash exploit that just enables a fan speed change on OFW (nothing else), OFW users would only have to visit this site once and then as long as there were no power cuts, this setting could be remembered for days or weeks. Worst case it gets reset and they need to visit the site again.


I don't know if it would be worth doing, or if anyone else would use it, but just sharing in case someone likes the idea.

I found this behaviour useful here as it lets me test Playstation Home on OFW by simply not enabling HEN, while still maintaining a cool console.

Not if it used a flash exploit like BG Toolset, otherwise yes.

In theory it could just be a button on the BGToolset website.

OK, yeah, you are probably right.

I just know it can stay set without HEN enabled after a reboot, but maybe too much hassle.

I'm not very familiar with HEN, but I remember that Habib had to implement a hook to syscall 389 and some lv2 patches.

Yeah, I vaguely recall last year when I implemented the syscon error log extraction in the Toolset, I also looked quickly into the temps and fan thingies and concluded those features would have to wait until the next development phase due to lv2 restrictions.
It will happen eventually...

I think the safest method for OFW fan control is by adjusting the fan curve in Syscon. There are numerous threads regarding this and how to do it around here. Even though is not the simplest of things to do.
