So, while checking out the schematics and datasheets for the mainboard. (I have the CECHG01 btw.) I noticed the blue-ray is handled by a SATA to IDE convertor chip. EEPROM for the blue-ray is handled separately. So, in theory the chip could be pulled and a sata connection could be added through a small board. Could also transplant the eeprom to the board if needed by the ps3.
The point of this post is really to find some anyone who may actually know how the ps3 drivers handle the blueray. And possibly find if anyone would pottentially know of any attempts at something similar. Before I go and make the board and buy some donor playstations.
