PS3 RetroArch 1.6.3 - Improved PS3 Release from libretro

The libretro team has released a new update the PS3 port of RetroArch, supplying a DEX version for Custom Firmware users, ps3 dev & libretro Contributor @Ezio follows up that release with a CEX version and also a ODE version for user's who may be using one of the Opical Disc Emulators (ODE). This update comes equipped with the missing cores from v1.6.0 and this might be the first release for the PS3 to contain the o2em core, which is a simple Odyssey 2 & Videopac+ emulator for those wondering. but Ezio_PS does confirm the Atari ProSystem emulator is now fully working once again and for those who have been awaiting a fix to Neo Geo Pocket there is very good news about that core on the horizon View all the details and downloads available for Custom Firmware (CEX & DEX) and Optical Disc Emulator (aka ODE) versions of the popular multi-system emulator that now contains 27 libretro cores. (note: neo-geo pocket has incoming fix as Ezio explians).

This version is better than 1.6.0 since prosystem core works again fully.
Recently (about 2 days ago) ngp core has been fixed and it is again working on ps3 after several years. Latest time i saw it working was on RA 1.0.0.3 if i remember good. Anyway i'll build a little pkg including the fixed core in the next days, so ps3 users can enjoy again with it.

Did you try the fix pkg for 1.6.7 who includes snes core? Same issue?

I'm a bit out of the loop here with all the nightlies and fixes for them available. I still have custom pkg from @atreyu187 RetroArch.PS3.v1.6.0+.CEX.PS3.pkg installed. So my question is, should I hold off from installing latest nightly build and fix from @Ezio and stay with that custom 1.6.0?
It's a choice of yours, i think a new and more stable release for all ps3 platforms needs though. I could do it in the next days.
Meanwhile @Zar fixed compilation issues for mame2003, so for those interested here it's a standalone pkg including it. https://mega.nz/#!MRh3STAS!EuHAjAM1U_SkpfK6CwOKVwSf5wbYIeWnaWaUiqsPVbs

Ezio What a marvel, I tested this Mame 2003, and the result was more than expected, I tested a 10 games, and at no time froze the PS3, Perfect Star Blade, Altered Beast ran normal, but the zoombe were left without head, Street Fighter The Movie Perfect, Batletoads ran normal, but with audio burst, Perfect Assassins Tattoo, Moonwalker Not loaded, gets infinite black screen, but allows to return to retroarch, Perfect Phelios, Perfect OutRun, was a result, in addition to the expected Killer Instint 1, and Killer Instint 2 ran but at 5 or 6 fps, which shows that this mame has a very great potential when it comes to 3D games, and is on the right track. A hug and all the best.

MAME 2003 has ran well on the PS3 (with a working core/version) for sometime now, good to see it return but should be about the same compatibility as before.

However most 3D on the PS3 is a problem with emulation. Very doubtful we will ever see those games working at any playable speed.

STLcardsWS I've done a comparative between the mame2003 of the ps3 that Ezio released, and all the march of the retroarch of the android in my android Box MX3-G, and pegamoo the Star Blade game as an example, all the mames in android run it at maximum 10fps, with ps3 the same perfect wheel in speed, I really liked the optimization that Ezio gave him, it must be because I testo every day many emulators, I end up seeing details, which often go unnoticed, maybe games like strider 2, Tekken .. maybe they will also work, but as it is for me this is too wonderful.

@Ezio is there a DL that contains all the working cores in one? (nigthly broken?)
I'll do a more stable release, since nightly builds freeze too much imho, and tbh it's extremely annoying if you consider retroarch can work almost perfectly on ps3.
It'll happen not later than this week-end, since i'm now compiling latest updated cores and testing some new ones that i'll put into the build only if they work (some of them give back screen for the moment).
What i think that ps3 community needs is a stable release where everyone can enjoy without too problems, and it's exactly what i want from retroarch installed on my ps3.
Probably i'll write a release note too, though it could require more time.

np.

I won't pull any request anymore, it look like he is ignoring me ;'(

I'll try to fix some other cores but without pulling any request.

Your pull request has been merged, but he think there's a better way to fix that issue.

About other cores, i get black screen with picodrive, fuse (spectrum), tgbdual, mgba. Fbalpha now works but only with some games (from few tests i did).

About pulling a request or less, just do what you think is better for you. ;)

PicoDrive i have not seen work on the PS3 mgba I have seen work before on the PS3 (libretro) speed was poor and required bios. If troubles with FBA @CaptainCPS-X might be able to help.

Ezio my friend the main idea of the pico drive for ps3 would be a single thing, even bring the 32x sega to ps3, I even sent a message to ekeeke asking him to put supoerte to the 32x sega in genplusgx, but he told me that Would not be a priority of the genplusgx project, as well as the last snes9x gx, in place of snes9x 2010 to be able to run the snes MSU-1 games in ps3, the MSU-1 is a gaming format for snes, which was conceived from A bug exploited in the Road Blaster game of the Sega CD, which allows to add to the games of snes video and audio with quality standard psx cd, currently the Nintendo Wii already has this version of snes9x gx with MSU-1 support perfectly, a hand order Which I miss and I think it is a simpler core and that would be nice on ps3, it is the MSX that is a pc console much loved by and loved by the staff. A hug and everything good always.
